"The announcement of Konya's 'City Coin' demonstrates the willingness to innovate financial technology within Turkey. Should the project gain the seal of approval from the government, Turkey has a unique opportunity to lead on a global scale."

recent survey by ING found that Turks were playing a huge role in driving the adoption of cryptocurrencies, and its underlying blockchain technology. A second survey showed 20 percent of the population used or owned cryptocurrency.
