Explain Metaverse for my mom

You might think that the term "Metaverse" is a recent concept primarily associated with the digital currency era. However, this term has its origins in a science fiction novel called "Snow Crash." Neal Stephenson, thirty years ago in his book, narrated the story of a young boy named "Hiro Protagonist," who entered another world known as the Metaverse by donning a special pair of goggles. In this realm, every individual partakes as an avatar within the game.

To gain a better understanding, let's familiarize ourselves with avatars:
Imagine a computer or PlayStation game. Instead of you, a character plays the game within the gaming world. When you press the right button on the game controller, that character moves to the right. Avatars can take the form of animals or cartoon-like characters.

In a racing game, you have a car that belongs to you. When you press the accelerator button on the controller, your car accelerates in the game.

These characters that play the game in your stead are referred to as avatars. In other words, avatars are symbolic representations of you within a game.

Now, let's delve into the narrative of the book "Snow Crash." In the book, Hiro, the central character, gains entry into the Metaverse by wearing a special pair of goggles. In this world, each person serves as an avatar, engaging in interactions, shopping, and confronting challenges similar to the real world but within the Metaverse.

The modern concept of the Metaverse doesn't differ significantly from the world Neal created in his book, although it hasn't been fully realized yet. Think of the Metaverse as an online realm closely mirroring the real world.
For another example, envision your workplace. In the Metaverse, your workplace is created virtually, and while you're seated on your usual couch at home, you enter your virtual office by wearing specialized goggles. Your avatar in the Metaverse follows your directives and completes tasks for you.

To connect to the Metaverse, you'll use special goggles alongside an application. This application can be installed on your television, computer, or mobile phone. By activating the application while wearing the goggles, you will enter the Metaverse. It's akin to gaming clubs where, with the press of special goggles, the gaming environment transforms into a three-dimensional, lifelike experience.

Minecraft stands out as one of the most renowned examples of a Metaverse game. Perhaps its creator didn't initially anticipate that it would become one of the best-selling games in history, with nearly 250 million copies sold worldwide. "Build your world" serves as the primary motto of the Minecraft game. In this game, your only limitation is your creativity.

For a more profound understanding, think of games where you construct cities, islands, or empires. In these games, you employ your creativity to shape a world with its own rules, principles, and, most importantly, your designs. Virtual online classes represent another facet of the Metaverse, with the distinction that you can assume the role of a character who, in reality, serves as your avatar, attending these classes.

Considering the current constraints, ponder large concerts or major events like the Golden Globe Awards, Formula One races, and numerous astonishing gatherings within the Metaverse. No visa or exit permits are required. All you need is a wallet containing digital currency to purchase online tickets. Tickets can be obtained online using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, BNB, Ethereum, and more. By entering and connecting to the Metaverse, you can witness these events live.

The Metaverse constitutes a new world that substantially differs from the real world. You may desire to maintain your conventional morning routine, but the world is progressing in an alternative direction. In the Metaverse, daily life and routines can be reimagined and reshaped in numerous ways.

The world is indeed advancing along a different path, one that is more convenient and slightly distinct for humanity. You might prefer standing in line at a bakery, experiencing physical activities like walking to the bakery for breakfast. In contrast, your child may prefer ordering the same bread online with a few clicks. This perfectly illustrates the difference between the Metaverse and the real world. In the Metaverse, convenience and virtual experiences often redefine our daily routines.
