Dear Friends,

Most of us want to practice healthy living and wants to be healthy always.

This is one of the health awareness article in our series.

Most of the magnesium in our body is stored in the bones and inside cells;

There is only **0.3%** is found in the blood. Consequently, it is very difficult to detect a magnesium deficiency through a standard blood test!

What causes magnesium deficiency?

Many medications can deplete the body's magnesium levels. Additionally:
- High stress
- Sugar & caffeine (coffee)
- Alcohol consumption
- High insulin levels & low stomach acid
- Deficiencies in salt and Vitamin D

The major 9 key symptoms of magnesium deficiency:

1. Unnecessary fear or anxiety
2. Suddenly waking up at 2 AM
3. Eye twitching (tetany)
4. Rapid heartbeat after eating
5. Excessive fatigue after even light mental exertion
6. Sudden sensation of chest tightness
7. Intense craving for sweets or carbohydrate-rich foods
8. Inability to sleep despite physical exhaustion ("wired but tired")
9. A sensation of heaviness in the body
(Note: Tremors in the hands or legs, or leg twitching/pain during sleep—such as Restless Legs Syndrome—can also stem from this!)*

Then you may ask me which form of magnesium is best?

Magnesium Oxide: This is the most widely available type in stores, but it is the least effective only! Generally our body absorbs only 3% of it. This will be taking large amounts often leads to diarrhea.

Magnesium Glycinate: This is the one of the best options! The body absorbs and utilizes 80% of it on a whole The "Glycine" found in this would promote calmness in the brain and helps us in sound sleep.

Magnesium alone is not quite enough at all.

Vitamins K2 and D3 are also required to transport it to the bones.

Natural sources of this is in: Leafy greens, almonds/cashews, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and traditional fermented foods are rich in K2 and magnesium.

Spending 15–20 minutes in the morning sunlight and including foods like curd or buttermilk in your diet helps magnesium integrate into the bones well.
