Dear Friends,
I am sharing an incident that changed my life
Many years ago, when I moved to Chennai in India
A woman in an apartment near me was in severe depression.
She did not contact me directly.
She wanted to meet me through my maid.
I said:
“Come anytime, I will be there.”
But she did not come out.
I did not have her phone number.
I could not contact her.
A month later, the news came that she had died.
That day my heart broke.
That day I decided:
We must spread mental health awareness in my own and extended community.
Silence kills. Stigma also kills.
But hesitation to ask for help kills.
A movement born from that pain
In 2021, I started meditation retreats.
I have conducted sessions before.
But this time was different.
This is not just a retreat.
This is a movement.
That's why I'm hosting various sessions now.
Because mental health is not a luxury.
It's a basic life skill.
Today's key truth is to understand is that
We can protect our own mental health.
- Self-care is essential
- Emotional security is essential
- Peace is a practice
- Happiness is a skill
- Resilience can be developed
Mental health is not a test. It's a choice.
The key learnings to be practiced is:
Self-Talk – Talk to yourself
The central idea of today's session:
Talk to yourself.
But without blaming.
Without fear.
With process.
The affirmations we should practice is:
• I am calm
• I am happy
• I accept
• I am aware
• I have power
• I trust
• My intuition guides me
I am calm
In any situation
I choose peace.
My peace
Makes good changes happen.
I am happy
My happiness
Connects me to everyone.
I accept
My accepting attitude
Attracts good events.
I am aware. I do not react. I respond.
I have power. My thoughts. I would raise my energy.
I trust. Fait and changes the body’s chemistry.
My intuition guides me
I trust my inner knowing.
If we talk like this every day:
Thoughts change
When thoughts change, chemistry changes
When chemistry changes, behavior changes
When behavior changes, life changes
Finally – Gratitude Meditation
We need to notice each part of the body:
• Eyes
• Brain
• Heart
• Lungs
• Hands
• Feet
We said “thank you” to each one.
The body always works for us.
The sense of gratitude really reduces stress a lot
It also improves our physical health.
In a nutshell, all you need to do is:
-Protect yourself first
-Do daily self-care
-Practice self-talk
-Bring at least 10 people to the next training
-Be a mental health ambassador
Mental health is not a weakness.
It is not a shame to ask for help.
Peace is a power.
Happiness is a discipline.
Self-care is a life-saving tool.
When we come together
We can change a society.
Have a healthy and happy life ahead!
