Dear Readers,
The Decentralized Recovery (DeRec) open-source protocol was introduced by the DeRec Alliance recently to safeguard the crypto assets.
The DeReC Alliance, a fresh partnership with the aligned association with Hedera and Algorand ecosystems- that includes the HBAR Foundation and Algorand Foundation announced this news during the CFC St. Moritz conference- the highly curated digital assets and blockchain conference for investors and decision-makers, set in the breathtaking scenery of the Swiss Alps.
Meanwhile- Hedera is an open-source, fast, proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain network and governance platform that allows developers to build and deploy decentralized applications (dApps) in the popular Solidity programming language. HBAR currently trades at $0.08376.
Algorand is an autonomous, decentralized blockchain network. It offers a wide range of secure, efficient and scalable applications. It was built for the financial future and the world's first pure proof-of-stake (PoS) fundamental blockchain. ALGO currently trades at $0.2019.
The DeRec Alliance is a conglomeration of various groups of future and forward thinking blockchain based companies both from Web2 and Web3 ecosystems. They are coming together in commitment in working the process of securing and recovering digital assets, accounts and other secrets with their existing Web2 experiences.
This was announced jointly by Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-founder of Hedera and John Woods, CTO of the Algorand Foundation during a joint panel in the conference.
The Alliance will be working to simplify the process of securing and recovering the crypto assets with its Web2 experience.
Indeed the alliance already had the experience in working out the softwares for wallet protection to banks and various credit unions.
The DeRec approach is designed and built on the concept of secret sharing among a predefined set of helpers, allowing users to recover their information when needed.
Each of the helper will not reveal any personal data at a stage of recovery even if a user loses their recovery device.
The DeRec protocol operates with automatic resharing when data changes or helpers join or leave, as well as automatic confirmations that helpers hold their data shares.
John Woods of the Algorand Foundation during this brief highlighted the importance of maximizing the ease of use and minimizing risk associated with self-sovereignty for a flawless user experience.
Considering the problems, threats and the hack threats- with the crypto storage at the present times, hope this would broadly serve as a broad market decentralised recovery for the crypto assets.
