Viewership Numbers of Joe Biden's Address to Congress Are Very Low

On April 28, President Joe Biden gave his Address to Congress speech. While initial polls on mainstream outlets were favorable, there are multiple indicators that suggest high amounts of unfavorability. Even on CNN's own poll, which painted Biden's speech in a positive light, it also showed that Trump's first congressional speech had higher favorability with 57% compared to Biden's 51% (@ 7:47).

Tim Pool talks about some part of Biden's speech, what the mainstream media polls say, Ted Cruz napping, and Tim Scott getting called racial slurs.

While it should not be taken as gospel, the YouTube ratios of Biden's speech from The White House channel, CNN, Fox, ABC, NBC, and others are abysmal. Even though the audiences of outlets like CNN, ABC, and NBC tend to be more left leaning, their broadcasts still received more dislikes than likes with a few at very substantial margins.

What may be the most telling are the viewership numbers. Initial numbers for Biden's speech were extremely low. According to Reuters, across ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox, his speech only garnered 11.6 million viewers. During Trump's first congressional speech, across the same outlets, he was able to grab the attention of 25.3 million people, which is more than double. For an additional point of reference, Barack Obama had 33.6 million viewers.

Perhaps Biden's numbers will improve as numbers from other outlets come in. Unfortunately, the other outlets did not make up the deficit and the final tally looks extremely bleak. Accounting for all outlets, Nielsen had Biden's total viewers at 26.94 million. Compared to previous presidents, Trump finished with 47.74 million, Obama garnered 52.37 million viewers, G.W. Bush clocked at 39.79 million, and Clinton had a final tally of 66.9 million viewers.

For someone who allegedly earned the most amount of popular votes in US history, compared to the last four presidents' first congressional speeches, Biden's had the least amount of viewers. Even worse, the margins were not even close. I wrote back in January how Biden's inauguration put his popularity into question. Fast forward to now, after screwing up the border situation and demonstrating absolute cluelessness on guns, I would argue that blog post aged well.
