Like any other system, Axie infinity shows us that even with a very childish esthetic, you must learn and study the game to actually be good at it and understand all the mechanics.
Today we are going to study genetics, not like in a science class, but a class of Axies. Through the guide you will see oficial and third party tools and information!
Let's get started; How does the breeding mechanic work on Axie Infinity?
There is no gender, so it doesn’t matter the order of the Axies you chose when breeding because the result will be exactly the same. Keep in mind that you cannot mate siblings or parents with their respectives child.
The System takes genes from both parents in order to create the babies, this is determined by percentages and how similar the parent’s are. We can use a third party tool Axie Breeding Calculator from Freakitties and the Axie Infinity Breeding Simulator from AxieZone to get an estimated result of our Axie couple.
Let's get the breeding started! How can we duplicate Axies?
Don't worry, we won't hack the game or anything like that, we are just taking advantage of the system. First of all we need 2 very similar Axies to mate for the breed to be almost a clone of them.
We use the Finder tool on AxieZone because this allows us to do a more detailed search and find Axies with the attacks that we are looking for. For example, lets search a tank with 61HP and for the cards we will search Shrooms’s Grace, Vegetal bite, Prickly Trap and Carrot Hammer, these are the best cards for this class. Once we have 2 identical Axies we will introduce their ID code on the previously mentioned tools. As you can see, Axie Breeding Simulator indicates that there is a big chance for the baby to have the same cards, this tool will also notify us if the Axies we are trying to mate are related and cant breed. With the other tool we can simulate the breed. In case you cant find 2 Axies with the same cards or if they are very expensive, you can use this tools to make sure if it would be worth to mate a pair of similar axies.
Is breeding Axies free?
It’s a question that many make and the obvious answer is no. In fact, the more your Axie mates, the higher will be the price of the next breed, the price can go up to 4.200SLP for the 7th breed.
Let’s do some math:
Whenever we want a new Axie, we have to add up both costs from each parent.
For example, if it's the first time of both parents breeding we have to add up 100SLP from the father and 100SLP from the mother, this makes 200SLP for the first baby Axie.
Is it worth it to breed?
Yes, but up to a certain point. We recommend breeding up to 5 times out of the 7 that a parent can mate, because the price for the 6th baby would be too high and you wouldn’t get that much profit right away.
Now let’s calculate the cost of the whole process.
First we need the Axies, let's say you pay 80$ each (including GAS). Then the Breeding cost, let's set an average of 1.000SLP (500 for each parent at their 4th breed), if SLP were 0,01$ you would need 10$. This makes up to 100$, yes, it's insane at the moment but you will make a considerable amount of babies for the future, another bad thing is that we have to pay for the commission if we want to sell them.
