I mentioned preparing and eating unripe plantain the other day in my one of my post and some were surprised that they eat such so I decided to do a post about how to prepare unripe plantain porridge.
Benefits of Eating Unripe Plantain
Before I go through into the details of how to prepare the dish I’ll like to talk about some of the benefits of eating unripe plantain. There are so many health benefits including improves heart health, helping in weight loss, treating anemia and neuritis, boosting sexual performance, oh yeah, that too. Lol. I am not a health expert on medical stuff so I’ll just drop some links to articles that have written about it.

Ingredients
- Unripe plantain
- Pumpkin leaves
- Mixed spices (ginger, turmeric, garlic and thyme)
- Onion
- Two spoons of vegetable oil
- Pepper
- Seasoning cubes
- Salt to taste and water
How To Cook
- Wash the plantains and cut the plantain into chips and put it into a pot
- Add 2 cups of water into the pot and turn on the heat
- Add 2 spoons of vegetable oil
- Allow it to steam for 5 minutes
- Slice the pumpkin leaves and onion
- Place the sliced pumpkin leaves and onion over the plantain chips and add mixed spices, pepper, seasoning cubes and salt to taste
- Allow it to steam for 5 minutes and then turn it
- Allow to cook for 5 minutes
And that is it, your unripe plantain porridge is ready to eat.
