In this drawing I was playing around with a soft brush technique. It's very different from what I'm used to, so it took a while to get the hang of it. I definitely haven't achieved any measure of great success with it. However I did see why people like it so much.
This technique is great in that it allows you to focus on broad areas of shade, and then use a smaller brush to delve in to the details. This technique forces you to work at scale and you can't be tempted to want to jump to detail. The big bonus here is that you ensure that the structural values are right. This is super important when working on the foundational aspects of your drawing.
