Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Nerissa Tridawn card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Featured Monster: Nerissa Tridawn
Nerissa Tridawn is a water splinter card that costs 9 mana. It has no abilities. It's a tanky card that can also deal a decent amount of damage. It depends on what I want out of the fight but I generally don't use this card that often. It's more of a situational card for me but the extra magic damage can be very helpful.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is wands out and what doesn't kill you. This means that only magic monsters can be used and all monsters get the enrage ability. There is also 99 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, life, death or dragon splinter.
The summoner I choose to use this time is Bortus. In a match like this, I think that removing 1 magic from my opponent will help me survive longer and my cards can be played at their highest level.
My plan is just to have a lineup using a void monster up in front. Then I just have all my damage dealers and in the off-chance there is sneak, I have the Triage ability in the back.
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup because my opponent won't be able to deal any damage to my Djinn Oshannus because of the void ability. Unfortunately, this will be a long drawn out fight so I will fast forward to when a card dies.
It took a really long time for me to take out his Djinn Oshannus because it kept dodging my magic attacks but I finally managed to kill it off. While I was at it, I was able to take out an extra monster in the previous round. At this point, this match is over and there is no way for my attacks to miss anymore. My opponent also can't damage me.
As expected, I was able to take out my opponent without any issues.
The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for had a tank that would take reduced damage followed by my own damage dealers. The abilities worked out well and I didn't take any damage at all during the fight.
The -1 magic from Bortus was one of the contributing factors towards my win. It made it so my opponent could not damage me at all. So there was no danger at all for me but it was annoying to see my opponent dodge so many of my attacks. The enrage and phase magic ability seems very powerful in the wands out ruleset. I don't think my opponent's lineup was bad but they just didn't expect me to have Bortus with a -1 magic. The +1 speed from Keyla might help him but the armor is kind of worthless due to the ruleset. In any case, I would have won this match in the end when the overtime damage kicks in but it was kind of annoying to see how long the fight lasted.
