Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Mycelic Infantry card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Mycelic Infantry

Mycelic Slipspawn is a earth splinter card that costs 8 mana. It starts with shield, learns giant killer at level 5 and enrage at level 8. It's a tanky card that is meant to take hits in the front. It has decent health and damage but it's downside is the slow speed that it has. I got a gold foil version of this card so my card is level 3 and I don't use it that often because of Chain Golem.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is melee mayhem and reverse speed. This means that all monsters lose their abilities and all monsters get the enrage ability. There is also 99 mana available and I am left with the choice of earth or death splinter.

summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Wizard of Eastwood. In a match like this, I think that removing 2 armor will make it easier for me to kill the opponent and my cards can be played at their highest level.

My plan is just to have a lineup using a few tanky monsters up in front. Mycelic Infantry is slow so it is up first. Then there is Failed Summoner to counter magic monsters. I have a tank heal and a thorns monster for the rest of my line up.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I have lost this match. The Llama and Kron combo is way too powerful and I don't think I can offset that self-heal that Kron has. If I had a void magic monster like Unicorn Mustang, it would be a different matter.

Round 2

round 2.png

I killed off one monster but it's not looking that great for me because of that Kron. The shield ability isn't veryful in this fight and my tank heal won't be able to completely heal up the damage. I will just speed up the fight towards the end to see what happens after Kron is up at the front.

Round 4

With Kron up front, I only have my Goblin Psychic left so it is definitely a loss for me. The failed summoner won't live long enough.

Like I expected, I loss because I could not outdamage the Kron. Maybe leveling up my Goblin Psychic up further is something I should do to get the affliction ability.

Conclusion

The battle this time around did not go as I expected. The lineup I went for had slow monsters and it was built to take hits while giving me more of a chance to win. Unfortunately, it did not work this time around due to the Kron with last stand.

The -2 armor from Wizard of Eastwood was not that great but it did allow me to place the highest level monsters that I could. The opponent just outclassed me with the combo of Llama and Kron. Last stand makes it so that it deals 5 damage per turn and it also heals 5 damage per turn. I just couldn't take out Kron fast enough to end the match. My team was able to survive for a while but even with that, there wasn't much I could do to combat that combo.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
