Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Crypt Beetle card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Crypt Beetle

Crypt Beetle is a death splinter card that costs 3 mana. It starts with shield ability and it doesn't learn any new abilities. It's fairly slow and its stats go up as you level it. I don't use this card much but I do find it as a good tank in the last spot to tank some of the sneak monsters or if melee monsters can attack from anywhere. However, I still think I prefer cards with more attack power so I don't use this card often.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The ruleset this time is armored up and reverse speed. There is also 50 mana available and I can choose between water, earth and death for my line up. With both armored up and reverse speed, low speed monsters are great and I should try to fit a few magic type monsters in my line up to take care of any shield ability tanks.

summoner.png

The summoner I choose to use this time is Mimosa Nightshade. As much as I don't like the death splinter set, the abilities on any legendary summoner is great. It gives -1 ranged attack and affliction to the opponent. As a buff, it gives void magic to all of my monsters and it will reduce my magic damage taken by half.

My plan is in the table above and I plan to use the Crypt Beetle to take some hits in the last spot.

Round 1

round 1.png

I am a bit sad to see that my opponent did not use any magic monsers but I think my lineup is pretty strong against his line up. With my magic monsters, I should be able to take out his Chain Golem earlier than mine. Now it will just be the issue of whether or not my opponent can kill off my backline faster than I can take out his monsters.

Round 2

round 2.png

My first round didn't end so well but I should be able to take out his Chain Golem next turn and I don't think his deeplurker or sandworm will be killing anything soon.

Round 3

round 3.png

With the opponent's chain golem out of the way, I can fnally get started working on my opponent's lineup. I don't see myself in any danger and my opponent has no chance at healing.

Round 4

round 4.png

At the current stage, I see no chance of me losing this match because most of my monsters attack before my opponent and Chain Golem is a powerful tank. So I will fast forward to the end of the match.

As expected, I won the match after a few more rounds. I wasn't in any danger due to all the high health monsters I had left on my own side.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The Crypt Bettle was placed in a good position and it did take a few hits. So it worked out as I expected but I wasn't expecting my opponent to have so much damage that it died in one round. It did give the rest of my lineup some time to deal damage. My idea of using slower monsters did work out in my favor during this match.

Mimosa wasn't really that useful this match but it did make it so that the ranged monster did zero damage against Chain Golem. The affliction did help me kill off Cornealus faster but I was kind of hoping to see more magic monsters so I could negate the damage. On my opponent's side, I think the summoner might not have been a good choice. There was already bonus armor from the rule set and having more speed in a reverse speed rule set doesn't work out that well.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
