Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Centaur card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Centaur

Centaur is a neutral splinter card. It has snipe from the start. It has decent speed and health for a mana cost of 4 but I do think it is lacking a bit in the attack stat. From my point of view, this card isn't exactly all that useful if I have a better card available in the splinter type of my choice. However the benefit of this card is that it can be used in any Splinter deck.

I didn't own this card until a few days ago but I remember my tough time trying to get snipe quests done after the new start pack changes. After all, the only other snipe neutral card I have is Mantoid. So this will open up line up to have a snipe card in lower mana fights. I could of just rented it but I have a feeling I would forget otherwise. As usual, I bought this through Monster Market to get some DEC back.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.png

The rule set this time is enrage. This rule set benefits melee monsters and they will have both increased physical attack and speed when damaged. There is 32 mana availabe and we can use any splinter type except for water and dragon.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Yodin Zaku. The buff it gives is +1 ranged attack, +1 health and blast ability. Using this summoner, I love using snipe monsters because they have a very good chance of hitting 3 monsters through the blast ability. At the same time, they have increased attack so I am also killing off my opponent's team.

My plan is to have two melee tanks in the front with a lot of health available. After this, I will have a bunch of ranged monsters as damage dealers to take advantage of Yodin Zaku's +1 ranged buff along with blast. In the worst case, I hope Chain Golem and Fineas Rage is enough to take advantage of the enrage rule set and the blast ability from my summoner.

Round 1

In the end, I decided to include creeping ooze in my line up and I am not liking my opponent's line up. It's fully of magic based monsters and my Chain Golem won't be living very long. However the only benefit is that my opponent is slow and he doesn't have any leveled up cards.

Round 2

round 2.png

It went better than I expected because I was able to do some damage before my opponent was able to attack. My Chain Golem did quite well as it is still alive and none of my other cards have not died. So I think I have a great chance of winning this match and even Kron's self-heal won't be enough to let him win.

As expected, I was able to completely finish off my opponent. Although I wasn't expecting them to die during this round. My Fineas Rage was able to wipe out his Unicorn Mustang before he could attack so I was able to take less damage and Chain Golem was able to attack.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly like I expected. I was expecting a harder match since my opponent used a magic team and it also included Kron. However my creeping ooze did a great job slowing down my opponent as I was able to deal damage faster. My Chain Golem did die in the end but it was able to tank every single attack I got during the match. My Fineas Rage as a back up tank would of given me more of a buffer even if things did not go exactly like I wanted.

First off, my opponent was using level 1 cards so I had an advantage over him. Although my side was using level 1 cards for most of my spots, my summoner was a legendary. He just lacked the speed to deal damage fast enough and I felt he was building his set up to fight magic builds. One more thing I felt my opponent could of improved on is to get a zero mana cost card such as the chicken to take a few more hits.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would of done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
