Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Melee Mayhem rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Melee Mayhem and Even Stevens. This means that melee monsters can attack from anywhere and only even mana monsters can be used. There is also 45 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, water, death, or dragon splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Possibilus the Wise. In a match like this, I think that the +2 health and trample ability will be useful when combined with melee mayhem.

My plan is just to have a lineup using a tanky monster upfront using Diemonshark. It has enrage and a decent amount of armor to tank any melee attacks. Then I have the rest of my lineup with all melee monsters and I also have a demented shark with the inspire ability. I have a few low-health cards to deal with opportunity and sneak monsters as well.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup because I have way more damage than my opponent. The only concern for me is that Chaos Dragon in the back because it could kill off my last monster early. Other than that, I am ahead of my opponent in terms of speed so I am not worried.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was lucky that Chaos Dragon didn't kill off my orc and I was able to take out 3 cards in the first round. It should be an easy match from here if I don't miss too much against his Chaos Dragon.

Round 3

round 3.png
I was able to take out that Chaos Dragon so there are only two monsters left. I am not worried about this match due to the speed difference.

I was able to take out the remaining monsters with ease due to trample.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for was able to deal massive damage and I was able to take advantage of both the ruleset as well as my summoner/abilities to increase my damage. It's a bit too bad that my Orc didn't get any opportunity or sneak attacks, but it was there is insurance against those monsters. My opponent's lineup seems a bit weird though and I don't think it was that great. It doesn't really make that much sense to put the ranged monster in the 3rd spot of his lineup. Other than that, I think my opponent had a decent lineup.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
