Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Little League rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is fog of war and little league. This means that only cards with a mana cost of 4 or less can be used and opportunity, snipe, and sneak are removed. There is also 43 mana available and I am left with the choice of earth or death splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Thaddius Brood. In a match like this, I think that reducing magic damage and health is more useful to me. I can also use cards to the highest level.

My plan is just to have a lineup using a thorns tank up front followed by Riftwing for the backfire ability. Then I have Venari Bonesmith with life leech and poison as a third backup tank. My ranged damage dealers come afterward with one of them giving me protect.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think this will be a close fight because my opponent's summoner reduces my speed and my ranged damage. It was what I was relying on to do damage. As my opponent has focused on a magic setup, Riftwing isn't going to be that useful. So it will rely on how often I land my attacks and if poison will help me kill my opponent.

Round 2

round 2.png
The failed summoner should die from poison but it's not looking that great for me. The protect is decreasing the damage my ranged damage dealers can do but it will be a long fight.

Round 4

round 4.png
I skipped ahead to round 4 because it's not interesting to trade blows. My opponent and me have both lost a card and it hurt to lose my highest damaging card due to scattershot. The good thing is that I have been landing poison quite often so it hasn't been as bad.

Round 7

round 7.png
I didn't miss as much as I thought I would and poison definitely helped. So I was able to drop down my opponent to 2 cards left but I already lost my Riftwing. At this point, I have won the match because my opponent can't do enough damage and so long as a ranged attacker lands a hit for the final monster, I am fine.

I did not miss any attacks and I was able to finish off my opponent without any issues.

Conclusion

The battle this time around did not go as I expected. My enemy reduced my ranged damage using protect and -1 ranged from his summoner ability. So I had to rely on poison and luck in my ranged attacks landing to beat my opponent down. I was able to get luck with poison quite a bit this match and that lead me to victory after a tough fight.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
