Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Fire & Regret rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

rule set.pngThe ruleset this time is Noxious Fumes and Fire & Regret. This means that all monsters are poisoned and any ranged monsters will receive counter damage. There is also 24 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, earth, death, or dragon splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Bortus. In a match like this, I prefer to reduce magic damage due to the strategy that I want to employ. It also lets me play cards to the highest level in the Silver league.

My plan is just to have a lineup having Diemonshark up front with enrage and trample. Diemonshark will do massive damage and my summoner will reduce the magic damage to make it live longer. I have cleanse and tank heal in my later lineup to make sure my Diemonshark lives longer. I also have a reach monster so I can focus damage on the first monster because that tends to be the monster that gets cleansed. I have a triage ranged monster but I want to use it so that one of my damage dealer or supporters live longer. It will get countered but that is fine and a filler monster in the last spot if my opponent has sneak.

Round 1

round 1.png
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the stronger lineup due because my healer and summoner will keep my Diemonshark alive for a while. It will be an endurance fight and it depends on whether or not my opponent dodges my attacks long enough.

Round 3

round 3.png
I skipped forward to round 3 because the tank healers and poison will just be exchanging blows with my opponent. Starting this round, I will have 2 cards left and my opponent will only have 1 left when poison kicks in.

Without missing, my enraged Diemonshark and Angelic Madarin wiped out my opponent.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. Diemonshark lived long enough to destroy my opponent and my idea of using support abilities helped. I was a bit disappointed to see triage not hit my other support monsters though. The -1 magic from Bortus was useful and it definitely helped my Deimonshark live longer. At the same time, my idea to focus on the front-most monster worked out. I just outdamaged my opponent and that gave me the win.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
