Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Ferocity rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is FerocityUp Close & Personal, and Noxious Fumes. This means that only melee monsters can be used, start off poisoned and they gain the fury ability. There is also 22 mana available and I am left with the choice of any splinter. One thing to note is that because of fury, using a taunt monster is a bad choice.

The summoner I chose to use this time is Helios Matriarch. It decreases my enemies speed by 1 and allows me to use 1 gladiator card.

I plan to use Xenith Monk first as a way to soak up some damage and the heal will make it live longer. After that is Vruz with sneak and martyr. The martyr is for Quora who has heal, immunity, and bloodlust. My last spot is Fungus Fiend to lower down the sneak damage on Quora. My main strategy is to outlast my opponent using Quora because it can heal every turn and it doesn't take any damage from the poison.

Round 1

round 1.png

At first glance, I think that it is dangerous. My opponent has a lot of melee monsters and they could easily overpower the healing from my heal monsters. I will be relying on Quora to see if I can win this match and I will need a few of my monsters' attacks to miss.

Round 2

round 2.png
I lost all my monsters except for Quora. I was able to build up my Quora's stats through martyr and bloodlust.

Round 4

round 4.png
I was able to dodge an attack and this allowed me to take out a few more monsters. This means that I won't lose at all now. Either my opponent dies through Quora or through Poison. Any damage that I will take will be healed up.

I won the match later that round as I expected.

Conclusion

The battle went exactly as I expected. My strategy worked and my Quora was able to win the match for me. I was worried that my opponent would land all his hits because he had an almost max level deck available. The speed difference did work out and the martyr/bloodlust allowed my Quora to dodge a few attacks. This allowed me to win because I didn't realize that his reach monster had enrage. I was so close to losing the match during the 2nd round. It was only after that in the 3rd round where I didn't miss that I took out that enraged monster. Otherwise, it would have been extremely dangerous for me. A little bit of luck and I beat an opponent that had a stronger deck than me.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
