Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a rule set using a specific card and on this week's post it is a battle with the Briar Patch rule set. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Stampede and Briar Patch. All monsters gain the thorns ability and any monsters with trample will continue attack until it fails to kill a monster. There are also 99 mana available and I am left with the choice of every splinter except for dragon.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Immortalis. It reduces my enemies health by 1 and gives my cards the void and shatter ability. This means that I can easily remove the armor my opponent has and magic damage is halved.

My plan is to delay my opponent and kill off my opponent by using a taunt monster in the last spot. I do have one melee monster but it has shield so it will take less damage from melee or range. This will allow it to tank a few hits. Besides that, I have Regal Peryton for its fast magic attack so it can land shatter and an amplify monster to increase any thorns damage. Then I have two damage dealers in my lineup.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have an advantage because my opponent is using a lot of melee monsters. I will win so long as I can delay. It looks like my opponent has inspire on his opportunity monster but my Slipspawn has the forcefield ability so it will take reduced damage.

Round 2

round 2.png
I was able to kill off two monsters without losing any of my monsters. I dealt quite a bit of damage through my cards and the thorns damage. Given my lineup, I shouldn't have any problems beating my opponent because of that thorns.

Round 3

round 3.png
I made it through another round without losing any monsters and at this point, my win is guaranteed.

I won later this round due to my fast magic monsters.

Conclusion

The battle went exactly as I expected. My choice of using a taunt monster in the back worked out well because it also had forcefield. This made it so that all the opportunity and magic monsters would only do 1 damage to it per attack. The rest was up to my magic and ranged monsters to kill off my opponent. Using a shield tank up front worked out in my favor because my opponent used up quite a few attacks trying to kill it off. My opponent used too many melee monsters and my choice of using a amplify monster worked out in my favor because it increased the counter damage from thorns.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players play in a ruleset.
