Splinterlands: Improving my card levels to be more competitive

By jfang003 | jfang003 | 14 Jul 2023

Splinterlands has been a challenging game lately and I have been considering what I could do to improve my own win rate. I have decided that I want to move up to Gold rank so I plan on buying some cards and preparing for that. I have gotten the starting level in Riftwatchers so I will focus on increasing the power of my chaos legion deck because there are a lot of cards that are not leveled up yet. It's been quite expensive but I left some room over after I figure what else I need, but my focus has been on legendary cards.

Riftwatchers Purchase

Above are the cards that I purchased: Riftwing, Merdaali Guardian, Uriel the Purifier, Immortalis, Adelade Brightwing, Carnage Titan and Void Dragon using Monster Market. I get back part of what I paid for the cards and I prefer using this when I am buying directly off the market.

In order to purchase these cards, I decided to just pay HBD for 50,000 credits. The HBD was gained from my author rewards over the past week and I will be continuing to use them to buff up my deck. I didn't use up all my credits but I left some over after I figure out what else I want first.

Riftwing

The first card that I wanted to upgrade was Riftwing for the backfire. I already had a gold foil Riftwing with 2 BCX and it was only 1 level off. So I decided to buy 2 more BCX of this card to get it to level 5. I have wanted the backfire ability because I have lost a few times due to that ability. It synergizes well with the flying ability and high speed.

Merdaali Guardian

The second card that I wanted to increase was Merdaali Guardian because I use this card often because of the tank heal ability. By leveling up this card, it will increase my rewards from winning fights using this card. Eventually, I do want to level it up one more level for the repair ability but my summoners are not high enough level yet. So level 4 will do for now.

Uriel the Purifier

The 3rd card is Uriel the Purifier. This is a legendary card I have always wanted the heal because it would make it a better tank. I don't exactly like the recharge ability but it does also have flying so it works well in earthquake rulesets.

Immortalis

The 4th card is Immortalis. I got this card because this is a very useful summoner. By increasing this to level 2, I can make better use of my leveled cards. The void ability is amazing and I have lost quite a few times against this summoner. At the same time, the shatter ability can be quite useful if I have any melee or ranged monsters.

Adelade Brightwing

The 5th card is Adelade Brightwing. I bought this card for the resurrect ability at level 2. It will make this card better as a support card and it will increase my win rate. At the same time, it will decrease the penalty that I get when I use this card in my fights. It already has flying and repair ability so I do use it from time to time.

Carnage Titan

The sixth is Carnage Titan. The reach and double strike ability makes this card a really strong attacker. I already had this card at level 1 but increasing this to level 2 will increase the attack by 1 and it also decreases the penalty I get for using this card.

Void Dragon

The last is Void Dragon. The void ability is very useful and it is definitely a card that I use often. I increased this card to level 2 for an extra HP because it could come in useful and also to decrease my penalty.

Battle

This is a battle that I did use one of my newly upgraded card. I used Carnage Titan and it worked out quite well with Dhampir Infiltrator. Both of these cards had the double strike ability and these cards were buffed with 2 cards with inspire ability for an extra 2 attack.

Conclusion

I bought some cards to help me out in ranked battles and it will also decrease the penalty that I get from fights. I am funding this through my blog earnings.
