Splinterlands: Buying cards and improving my deck to improve my win rate

By jfang003 | jfang003 | 15 Apr 2023

The current Splinterlands season has been rough and I have been losing way more often. So I decided to use up some of my earnings to buy some cards. I don't like losing that much and that is why I decided to lean towards staying in Silver rather than moving up to the Gold league for better rewards. The biggest reason why I did that was that my cards are not leveled up to the cap for the gold rank and my win rate would be better in Silver. Having more options or improving my cards will help my odds against my opponents. All my purchases were done through Monster Market for cash back.

Purchases

The first thing I bought was some Tarsa cards to get my Tarsa to level 4. With this purchase, I was able to get all my Chaos Legion rare summoners to level 4 and this is also the maximum level cap for Silver league. I was using a level 3 before but with this, I can start using some of the cards at a higher level.

The next thing I bought was some Riftwatcher cards that I did not have. I just bought some level 1 card to open up my options and I don't know if I will really be using them much. However, having them available will expand my options and some of them will be quite useful in those higher mana cap matches.

Upgrades

I upgraded a lot of Chaos Legion cards that I had in my deck and some of them because I didn't do the clean up after my previous pack opening.

One of the cards that I upgraded was Dax Paragon and he gains the amplify ability due to it. I like this ability in the life deck because it works well with Crystal Jaguar (thorns) and Pelacor Conjurer (magic reflect). Those are some fairly low mana cards that can have their damage amplified.

This is another life card that I upgraded and with a mana cost of 2, it has both opportunity and flying. So the chances of me playing this card is quite high and it is able to deal 2 damage per turn now.

With Tarsa upgraded earlier, I thought that upgrading Tenyii striker also wasn't a bad option because it can gain an extra attack now when I use it in combination with Tarsa. There were a lot of other cards that I upgraded but I felt that these 3 were the ones that stood out the most to me.

Conclusion

Splinterlands is getting harder and harder to win fights. I wonder if it is caused by the bots adapting or not but I will improve my own deck to be more competitive. This week, I bought some cards and upgraded some of my existing cards. With this, I hope the season won't be as tough and I am able to win more fights. These cards will add more options and make my own lineup stronger.
