Katrelba Gobson in Born Again and What Doesn't Kill You Ruleset

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a card named Katrelba Gobson when there is a Rebirth and What Doesn't Kill You ruleset.

Featured Card: Katrelba Gobson

Katrelba Gobson is an earth gladiator card that costs 6 mana. This card starts off with bloodlustsneak, and double strike ability. Katrelba Gobson learns snare at level 5 and cripple at level 9. Currently, I have this card at level 4 and it's one of the best gladiator cards that I have. It makes brawls worth the effort. Depending on your card setup and ruleset, this card can be an amazing beast.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Born Again and What Doesn't Kill You. This means that all monsters will gain the rebirth and enrage ability. There is also 39 mana available and I am left with the choice of fire, earth, or dragon splinter.

My summoner is Helios Matriarch because I want to use gladiator cards and having extra speed in a match like this is always nice. With higher speed and if it is also enraged, my cards will move faster and dodge more attacks as well.

My plan is to use melee monsters to take advantage of the enrage ability. So I went with Robo-Dragon Knight for my tank because it can reduce any magic damage that I take because of void and delay my opponent with its stats. Then I have Thane for the inspire ability to increase my damage. Then I have two cards with double strike and sneak. Along with that are two monsters with martyr to increase the damage that I do with those sneak monsters. With the rebirth ruleset there, that martyr and bloodlust can easily stake up against my opponent. With this, I can take advantage of the ruleset and deal as much damage as I can with the enraged melee monsters.

Round 1

At first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think it will be an even match against my opponent. I don't like fighting Yodin Zaku but I have the speed advantage against my opponent. The problem for me would be that taunt monster because I can't stake much bloodlust until that card dies. The blast damage that I can take can easily stack up so I want to take out as many cards as I can early on.

Round 2

I still think the match can go either way but the redemption from my opponent triggered enrage for my sneak cards. I'll see where things go but I do have the speed advantage.

Round 3

round 3.png
I lost one of my sneak monsters but martyr was triggered twice for Katrelba Gobson. I have a huge speed advantage with that card so it's all about surviving now.

Round 4

My opponent missed quite a few attacks and that gives me some buffer to take out my opponent. I also still have the speed advantage so this match is my win. There is no way for my opponent to kill me off due to these advantages.

As I expected I won and my opponent missed a few more attacks as well. I think this is the highest that I have ever brought Katrelba Gobson to in stats. It didn't kill everything but all that damage and speed definitely adds up.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. First off, my reliance on melee monsters worked out well for me because it allowed me to increase their damage due to the What Doesn't Kill You Ruleset. Then I had Katrelba Gobson for bloodlust and that works extremely well in the Born Again Ruleset. On top of that, my summoner increased the speed of my monsters and that speed is only further increased due to the enrage. Also, adding in martyr to the mix was also a great idea as it increased the stats of my damage dealers by quite a bit. I wasn't expecting Katrelba Gobson to be so strong at the end of the match. With all of these advantages, I was able to beat Yodin and I am happy to see this win.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
