Hey folks, so I’m definitely not an NFT buff, for most of the NFTs I go for are free or at least near free. But what I do pay close attention to (far longer than I’ve been following crypto) is the miles and points space. That’s why I was surprised when I saw these two worlds collide when under Accor Hotels’ “Limitless Experiences” you can currently redeem 15,000 hotel points for an NFT:

If you’re unfamiliar with Accors, you’re probably not living in Europe, as the majority of their footprint is outside of the US, most notably in France. According to MKG consulting, by sheer volume of number of hotel rooms, Accors hotels ranks 6th globally right behind Hilton, IHG, and Wyndham. They’re a group of almost 40 brands, with the most popular being Ibis, Novotel, and Mercure.
Speaking of France, this “Limitless Experience” in particular is for not only an NFT, but for a “Legacy party” at the Molitar Paris hotel, an iconic hotel known for its street art. So fittingly, the NFT that you’d receive would come from one of 3 street artists (Marko 93, Nasty, and DOES), whose street art is soon to be demolished on some of the resident cabins, which is why their work is now being immortalized via NFTs.
Lets take a closer look at the details of this offer:
Thanks to your ALL — Accor Live Limitless points, gain access to the NFT Legacy Collection of the Molitor Paris MGallery Collection hotel.
For three decades, the name Molitor has been closely linked to the history of street art. When it reopened in 2014, the 78 cabins in the winter pool were transformed into an urban art gallery. In 2023, Molitor is inviting new artists to express themselves on the walls of the winter pool. To mark the occasion, Molitor is producing its first series of Art NFT, based on a selection of cabins currently being demolished, created by 3 well-known artists: Does, Marko93 and Nasty.
NFT* of Art are unique digital tokens representing digital works of art, based on blockchain technology. They ensure the authenticity and ownership of digital artworks, allowing artists to sell securely and collectors to prove their ownership.
Take part in the Molitor’s first Art NFT collection and attend the iconic Legacy party in November.
Don’t wait any longer, become one of the 390 owners of this collection now!
This Limitless Experiences includes**:
- 1 art NFT
- Invitation to the Legacy party at the Molitor Paris MGallery Collection hotel on 25 November 2023 (1 person) — reserved for the 390 collectors of the NFT Legacy Collection.
So is this deal worth it?
Price of art is of course always in the eye of the beholder, but by redeeming 15,000 Accor hotels you can purchase one of these NFTs that are currently still mintable for 0.39 $ETH (572.279 EUR):

According to ThePointsGuy, the fair market price for 1 Accor point is approximately $0.02 cents, meaning that through a points redemption, you could pick up one of these for approximately $300 dollars worth of points, an overall discount of approximately $300 dollars.
Once again, I know very little about the quality or value of art, but after doing some digging into what some of these artists’ NFTs are going for on opensea…well it’s not much, or at least its hard to say because at least in the case of DOES (digitaldoes.eth), no one has bought anything and it’s been over 2 years since he’s joined, even though he’s posted 36 different pieces of art:

Conclusion
Although I would never redeem 15,000 points for one of these NFTs, myself, I definitely could see myself doing so if I was already a fan of their work. Considering that all 3 of the artists still have mintable NFTs out of a total of 390, I’m curious how many were actually minted and whether or not this project is/was considered a success.
Regardless, I do think that this a perfect application of what NFTs can provide, as true appreciative fans will be able to retain a piece of art that would have otherwise been destroyed.
