You have all read the criticism that blockchain technology consumes too much energy. They’re not completely wrong, especially since the PoW networks consume a lot of electricity. However, as you can see in the graph below, wax’s network technology makes transaction confirmations using the DPoS system. It produces 125,000 times less carbon than blockchains such as Bitcoin and ethereum. The CO₂ produced by the WAX blockchain equals the 1-year emissions of an average of 5.5 US citizens.
Today, the annual Carbon footprint of WAX is 211 tons. WAX_io has taken action for this pollution it produces and neutralized the carbon footprint by collaborating with Climate Care. For this reason, it has been certified as “Carbon Neutral” since 2021.
