"Corporate/political/higher military ranks, are not holding up their end of the bargain" in Afghanistan, says ousted Lt. Col.

On August 26, Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller, Stuart Scheller, made a video in response to a morale letter received from military leadership, supposedly to raise morale during the withdrawal. The letter praises the troops for never letting down the soldier next to them, and says they fought and died in Afghanistan, protecting each other. It does not mention fighting and dying to protect the nation, the people of America or the rights of the Afghanistan people.

Commanders letter To Soldiers Claims They Fought for Each Other

All quotes from the video except for parenthesis.
  • I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away, to say to my senior leaders, I demand accountability.
  • I want to specifically ask some questions of my senior leaders
  • As a person who has not served twenty years I have a lot to lose
  • But what you believe in can only be defined by what you are willing to risk
  • (My risk), Gives me some moral high ground to demand the same honesty, integrity, accountability from my senior leaders

The Pentagon Approved Letter

The letter from Afghanistan, U.S. Marine command dated August 18, states. "Some of you may be struggling with the simple question; Was it all worth it? We want you to know that your service was meaningful, powerful and important. You fought for the Marine to the left of you and the Marine to your right and you  never let them down."
If any marine still has a problem the letter goes on to say, they should seek counselling. Many marines of course do have problems still. They thought the struggle was about much much more. They now bear the shameful withdrawal on their shoulders and the moral weight of responsibility, for leaving behind the killing of so many nameless others, many with families, who they did not know, and for reasons now in question, at both core life, and military Corp levels of responsibility.

The Core Of His Corp Reasoning

"The reason people are so upset on social media is not because the marine on the battlefield let someone down. People are upset because their senior leaders let them down, and none of them are raising their hands and saying, we messed this up."
"Did any of you throw your rank on the table and say; Hey, it's a bad idea to evacuate Bagram airfield, the strategic airbase, before we evacuate everyone?"
Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller is courageously putting his rank on the table. He sadly relates that many other commanders in the field also are wondering on social media and in private communication, if this was "all in vain." Were  lives wasted and values trampled, for no true, worthy and honorable purpose, whatsoever while a few profited and are now protected from accountability.
