Atari believes in crypto

After successfully launching video games, Atari now bets on applying Blockchain and cryptocurrencies to the gaming industry.

According to an announcement on June 11, the new offerings for Atari token holders follow a partnership with e-sports company Unikrn.

Atari announced its alliance with Unikrn, a firm specialized in betting, competitive games and Blockchain technologies.

In May, Atari first partnered with Arkane, a Blockchain company specializing in token integration in video games. Also, it announced an initial coin offering to be held this year and the development of two crypto assets: Atari Token and Atari Pong.

According to the press release on AccessWire, the deal will accelerate the adoption of the Atari token within Unikrn's cryptocurrency ecosystems, now offering to buy, bet, and play using the token.

The Atari token is issued by Atari Chain, Ltd (Gibraltar), a company also owned by Atari and the ICICB Group. Unikrn, for its part, operates crypto based betting on casinos and esports (online sports games) available today.

Furthermore, Unikrn will leverage its patent-pending UMode platform to provide wagering support for Atari Casino with payments in Atari Token. Also, the blockchain esports firm will receive access to Atari’s roster of gaming classics

According to the announcement, the Atari token will be available for use on Unikrn's shopping, betting and gaming services. Unikrn co-founder and former Microsoft Ventures CEO Rahul Sood explained that he believes gambling will be an important part of the future of eSports:

"We know that betting will be a growing driving force in the future development of the gaming industry, and we are looking forward to reaping the benefits of this partnership for the Unikrn community.".
