Last century in a wall street R & D effort, we were paid to pick n judge search engines. & if we had not missed the Presearch contest, the circle of love could have been completed ! Evaluating relative value on search engines flashes us back to grid computers and deciding Dogpile beat them all but was too slow to stand. Library skills and good concepts for the search were the REALLY important factors - including knowing when to bail and go behind the paywall (NEXUS-LEXUS back then.) Now? Nothing matters except the hope of decentralized solutions breaking the monopolistic predatory "trust" of centralized systems.
2020 thru 2021 to now has been one stinking mess of clinically depressing chain reactions. Common people just crushed by horrible trend after insane wave of problems. The death of fiat fixed income and equity price discovery for chrissakes, what is y'alls sign of the apocalypse? OK OK nuts n bolts review - here it is, the truth is we tried Presearch many many months ago. Loved the idea but IT WAS TOO DAMN SLOW. But we tried again last week? and Presearch has fixed it. Head to head runs with Google ( and F-ck F-ck Go(ogle) - we mean duckduckgo- as well.) We guarantee that our ADD fueled impatience has NOT gotten any better, but we can use Presearch now without thinking - wow, looks like Dogpile. Hmmm it's taking so long it SMELLS like dogpile... which is what this review would have had to say if written back in 2020. Speed is THE key factor to us, we admit, we love the eff-eff go feature of how many milliseconds we saved with the snazzy BAT browser fighting THEIR the holy war against the evil empire ( and dear readers know we love love love the BATs. ) Maybe a search engine could offer a fast mode vs. a deep dogpile search?
Wait, we take that back. Speed is NOT the key factor to us. Google being evil is the real #1 consideration all right thinking people now. How evil is Google? Here's a campy self referential thought experiment that's easy and fun to perform - just search " How evil is Google?" into Bing. Then avert your eyes and hold your nose.

The sinister, subtle, pervading, unending evil? Google changes your search from "how evil is Google?" to "Is google evil?." That's like cheating at arm wrestling by grabbing the opponent's thumb and curling your wrist in - the match is over before it even starts.
Presearch came up with a video "how evil is Google?" which seemed pretty metaphysically photorealistically perfect to us. Today, Presearch lost that video and basically parroted Google's point of view. Maybe we were searching from the USA side of the great Euro data protection firewall last week, dunno. That's a common criticism of DuckDuckGo, guess now of Presearch. But who cares? Sunshine lollipops and rainbows for Research!
