Self proclaimed Tornado Cash developer Ameen Soleimani's "Privacy Pools" is a joke

Not sure why fakestream-media are all blindly repeating this guy's claims regarding his contributions to TORN and are effectively also promoting his shady "privacy pools" alternative to Tornado Cash, which is being dubbed Tornado Cash 2.0 while the actual Tornado Cash is an already working product with no flaws and does a better job than this borderline scam. OK maybe "scam" is taking it "a bit" too far, so let's first examine shall we:

"Ameen Soleimani, a former developer for Tornado Cash, has announced that he is creating a new crypto mixing service called "Privacy Pools." He claims that this new service addresses a "critical flaw" in Tornado Cash and hopes that this will persuade US regulators to reconsider their position on privacy mixers....Soleimani claims that his new service, Privacy Pools, solves this issue by allowing users to exclude themselves from an anonymity set."

Ohhh I'm sorry my bad, the "critical flaw" Tornado Cash had which our mans Ameen here will solve is apparently equality and privacy and in the process turn the tables on us by making us prove our innocence. Then there's the issue that "privacy pools" is on Optimism, which from the get-go has been more centralized than ETH and if you'd look closely, you could actually see the writing on the wall from light years away:

"There is only one Sequencer on Optimism. This has both positive and negative consequences. Firstly, there can only be one sequencer on Optimism because it is a layer 2 blockchain. Optimism doesn’t deal with the security issues of transactions; therefore, it doesn’t need to have more than one sequencer at once....the negative consequence of this is that Optimism becomes a bit centralized. The Sequencer can censor users from submitting transactions on Optimism." Becomes "a bit" centralized. Is that like being "a bit" dead? Or when you scam someone use the defense "Your honor, it was only a bit of a scam"? No pets allowed. "Oh that's OK I only have "a bit" of pet, it's not as if I'll bring over the entire farm. I'm not crazy, you're crazy."

So hooray, the 'guilty until proven innocent' crypto is born. This is exactly what Satoshi had in mind 15 years ago, well done Ameen.😂

All this is literally so backwards and dumb, I at first didn't even know how to address it. It's like being at a protest and then when the police show up you voluntarily hand over your ID, fingerprints, all your online accounts and passwords, hair sample, urine and DNA swab and then on the trip back home pat each other on the back and say "we sure showed those pesky authorities."

And what's with his claims he was a TORN developer? I've had my doubts about this guy from day one but as it turns out, he never officially developed or even contributed to Tornado Cash, he did however create MolochDAO which gave grants to the founders which in turn helped start the development. But now he tries to exaggerate his involvement with TORN, claim that the privacy Tornado Cash provided is a flaw and use the support for the arrested Pertsev in order to reel people into a flawed invention which is neither private nor decentralized. If you're interested to learn more on why this "privacy pools" stuff is fundamentally incoherent, or like to understand more about Tornado Cash in general you should join the TORN Telegram group. It is still very well moderated and there's a confronting piece dropping on this very same privacy pools debacle in the near future.

On another note, that Waves article dropped and it is funnier than I thought. Not laughing at those who lost coins or are stuck on the WX exchange of course, which btw was also "a bit" decentralized, but there were some parts that were just too hilarious, like a known scammer accusing an alleged scammer who then in turn accuses another known scammer. The "alleged scammer" is Waves founder Sasha and spoiler: the article doesn't provide an actual smoking gun, but it does however link certain wallets and suspicious timing. So yeah, make of that what you will.

How do you rate this article?

Things are almost never as they seem. If you sincerely think that world powers would spend their money and resources in order to just "help" citizens from foreign nations, you might want to ask yourself why they've been neglecting and out right murdering their own citizens for decades. What are their true motives for wanting to fund foreign (terror) groups, start global confrontations and wars? I'll let you in on a little secret; It has NOTHING to do with "human rights" nor "democracy".
