Sometimes, when I have a bit of free time, crazy ideas pop into my head about creating something new. Whether it’s a game, an app, a website, or a way for us to connect even more deeply, I’m always on the move, looking for something fresh—something that can make a difference.

As a longtime gamer, I’ve grown a bit tired of the state of modern gaming. Everything is so competitive and "Pay-to-Win" (P2W); companies constantly push out rushed products just to make a profit, leaving the player with only a chance at actually having fun.

Hive offers so many possibilities (from gaming to social interaction) and there are countless ways to make the most of what the platform has to offer. So, why not create a hybrid of the two? Imagine a social game where you earn a bit of Hive just by playing, all while interacting with friends and acquaintances and strengthening those bonds of friendship.

The main focus isn't to make anyone rich, but rather to use this as an extra incentive; for me, what matters most are the bonds formed and the moments shared together. Since we talk so much about votes, comments, and interactions, why not make it all a bit more fun?

🌳 Hive Grove - Plant and Connect

Remember the Orkut days? You might not be familiar with it, but one of the first social networks to become a massive hit was built largely around "wall posts"—comments we’d leave on friends' profiles just to say "stopped by." Who remembers the albums limited to 12 photos? Or the testimonials?

Hive Grove won't make you rich; that’s not what it was created for. It’s about reviving that feeling of simple connection, where a friend's presence held weight and a message actually mattered.

And the best part: it’s all happening right here on the Hive Blockchain!

What is Hive Grove?

Hive Grove is a growth and social interaction game built on the Hive blockchain. When you enter the game for the first time, you get a tree (a seed) that you can care for and water; you earn some Hive tokens and watch it grow. And here’s the coolest part: your friends can visit you, pick an icon or emoji, and leave a message, helping your tree grow faster.

🌱 Your First Tree

When you create your grove, you automatically receive a seed—a free starter tree to get you going. It doesn't yield much at first, but it’s the beginning of something that can grow significantly over time with help from your friends.

Each tree you own takes up a plot slot. You start with 4 available slots, meaning you can have up to 4 trees in your grove right from the start.

💧 Watering Means Caring — The Claim System

In Hive Grove, every claim represents watering your tree.

You can water each tree once every 24 hours. With each watering, you receive your HIVE token reward, and your tree's growth counter advances one step.

But take note: no watering means no growth. The game is designed to reward growth and evolution for those who show up every day—and it’s not difficult; watering your trees or helping your friends takes very little time.

🌳 Growth Stages

Trees evolve through 5 stages, each requiring a specific number of waterings to advance:

The more advanced the stage, the higher the reward multiplier applied to each watering:

An Ancient tree yields 3x more than when it was just a seedling. It's worth the effort.

💎 Rewards, Bonuses, and Multipliers

Each tree type has its own base reward, bonus chance, and bonus multiplier. The final reward formula per watering is:

Reward = Base × Stage Multiplier

And, with a bit of luck, you might hit a bonus:

Reward with Bonus = Base × Stage Multiplier × Bonus Multiplier

An Ancient Pine with bonuses can yield: 0.08 × 3.0 × 6 = **1.44 HIVE** in a single watering. Rare, but it happens.

🤝 Helping Friends — The Heart of the Game

This is the most special mechanic in Hive Grove. This is what I’d like everyone to focus on!

You can visit any friend's grove and water it, while also leaving a sticker (actually an emoji, haha) with a short message—like an old-school social network wall post.

Each instance of help your tree receives reduces its claim cooldown time by 1 hour. Each tree can receive up to 4 helps per day, meaning you can cut your wait time from 24 hours down to just 20 hours with support from friends.

Each player can only help the same person once a day; so, when entering your friend's grove, you can choose which tree to water. This makes every visit meaningful rather than just an act of spamming.

The stickers are recorded in your grove; specifically, you can see the icon and messages from the people who helped with that particular tree. For example, if you have 2 tree slots, 4 different people can help you with the first one, and another 4 distinct people can help with the second tree, creating a history of who has visited.

🏪 The Shop — Expanding Your Grove

In the Shop tab, you can buy new trees and expand your plot.

All the trees listed above are available for purchase. Each has a different profile: some grow faster, others offer a higher chance of bonuses, and some provide higher base rewards.

Need more space? You can purchase up to 10 slots in total (you start with 4 for free). Prices increase progressively:

With 10 slots and a variety of trees, your grove can transform into a truly diverse forest—increasing the chances that others can help you out and getting you ready to earn some Hive tokens.

📑 Game Tabs

🌳 Grove

The main game tab. This is where your trees are located, arranged on a land grid. You can view the time remaining until the next watering, check each tree's growth stage, and plant in new slots.

👥 Friends

Search for any Hive user by their username and visit their grove; note that they must have at least the initial tree planted for you to interact with it.

You can water their trees and leave stickers and messages. The game tracks your daily help history to prevent duplicate assistance.

🌐 Network

A network visualization of your social graph on Hive. The game analyzes your interactions (votes, comments, and follows) and builds a map of your closest connections. You can see who already has a grove (🌳) and visit them directly via the map. It’s your own social network within the larger social network.

🛒 Shop

Buy new trees and expand your land. Each tree displays its full stats before purchase. Everything is paid for in HIVE and recorded on the blockchain.

💬 The Game's Concept

Designed to bring back the sense of community we lost on major social networks, where algorithms decide who you see and when. Here, you decide to visit your friend. You decide to leave a quick note. Interaction is intentional.

The idea is simple: caring for something every day builds a habit. And habits build community.

If you show up daily to water your trees, you’ll eventually want to visit your friends' groves—and they’ll want to visit yours.

One day, you realize you have a network of people who care about one another, even if it’s just through a cactus sticker and a 35-character message.

That’s how it used to work. And it can work again.
