The FT has a story today about Silvina, the first female finance head in Argentina! Congrats Silvina! Diana, at CEMA U. in Buenos Aires, says it will be "incredibly difficult." Official inflation hit 75%, bonds just rejiggered in 2020 are going 80% down which means to 0, mobs in the street. Economist Eduardo says Silvina is a "place holder' minister. Ouch. Wall Street chestnut #53.4, right? " Hey there, you always wanted to drive, didn't cha? Here, sit up front, take the wheel, it's all yours!! Bye - we're bailing out tho cause this car is heading OVER THE CLIFF!!!" Good luck anyhoo, Ms. Batakis, yer gonna need it. We cry for y'all Argentina! The truth is the peso never had a chance....
Dear readers will agree this story is still a TRIUMPH---
The FT, under the mighty weight of Publish0x's viewers, finally said the people know crypto is good in an article about the devastation caused by inflation / no hard money / runaway fiat printing!! Hallelujah to quote Leonard Cohen. 0 FU's!! One nice big happy FAT THANK YOU Lucinda!!
On the next page, Pepsi in NYC IS raising prices 12% in three months, that's about 50% annualized, why that's rather... Argentinian, yeah!!??!! That's the thing about A.A. or any group therapy. You see how the person next to you is a fool, then later ya realize you ARE that person....
Temasek, the gargantuan Singaporean state bank, is cutting back investments everywhere this year. Hidden at the bottom of the article, they DID just put more money into Sammy B. Fried's FTX though lol!!!
A non crypto/crypto story - the SEC has allowed single stock ETFs for induhviduals to launch. Which even the SEC admits is not a great idea for regular folks to load up on leverage with individual stocks, "very complex and risky." Big firms already have single stock ETFs. Zoom out for the MASSIVE SEC HYPOCRISY - even big firms still cannot have a Bitcoin spot ETF. Score one more FU to the SEC, please.
An article on gaming, the new speedrunning Neon White. Hey, that'll have crypto in it, yeah? Dear readers know all the top games integrate crypto. & Speedrun.com has leaderboards for Crypto_rider, Cryptohamster, Bitcoin_billionaire, etc etc.
NAH. It's funny, the FT is again highlighting a game built on Steam. Just a coincidence we are sure, again-though the FT does NOT mention Steam this time. Dear readers know Steam has chosen NOT to integrate crypto, of course that meant Steam had to run around and police Steam developers, who were naturally integrating crypto.
A nice big ad for the upcoming Tech & Politics forum. No crypto but we reckon the FT will say "crypto" when they cover it. How can a forum about "rulemaking in digital markets," Tech & Politics not include crypto in the year 2022??
The Letters section has reverted to it's FT standard no crypto stance. Dear readers know this is funny: a recent FT article bemoaned how artists never get paid, only art houses. The article ignored NFT royalties, with smart contracts solving this in perpetuity.
Lookie, here's a letter about ARR, artist's resale rights, a levy on all digital storage devices. That's it, STILL no crypto/NFT mention. Sweeeet (*&$!(* FT, how do y'all LIVE with the elephants in the room?!?!?
ZOOM OUT for the risible, nonsensical hypocrisy of this omission. The art article had quotes from living artists, right? They're the ones to protect, that's how copyright laws were designed. Let's look at the most expensive art sales of all time, link from Wiki below (the Basquiat is awesome.)
We all know the NFT the Merge, by Pak, sold for $91MM USD, the all time record for a living artist in a public auction. Only about fifty paintings EVER hammered higher, including private auctions, and all of those artists are long dead, except Jasper Johns. We KNOW the FT knows the Brit David Hockney is still alive, and Christie's sold his top art for $90MM. So tell us HTF, (*&$(!#$&*#(*!!! can any discussion about art prices and artist royalties in a serious financial newspaper ignore Pak, NFTs, and NFT royalties? Primer link below for FT lurkers.
And that's it. Oh, the ever inspirational Janan Ganesh increases our vocabulary with foreign phrases as always, & also thinks crypto's crash might ding Florida's DeSantis. And it’s the ninth day of the Nexo Vauld blackout. Free the positive tie up news!!! But that's all, folks.
The dogs that didn't bark are just getting to be a huge slavering pack (with halo's over their heads, tho, LOL)
Peace, love, dogs & cats together with crypto money for artists,
Dave
