The launch of the Bakkt platform, which was supposed to trade the first Bitcoin futures contracts with real BTCs, is still in sight. It was planned to be launched in December, according to the original plans.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Bakkt, for which the International Exchange (ICE) is also operating the largest New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), is still awaiting approval from the American Commodity Futures Commission (CFTC).

The CFTC allegedly requires Bakkt to take further steps to satisfy their demands until they give them permission to start trading.

CFTC Commissioner Dan Berkovitz heard on March 19 that they were working intensively on the commission to assess Bakkt's application, as well as other requests for crypto-space. "We need to make sure that the cryptocurrency product, like any other product that is traded on our markets, meets all standards," he said.

However, when asked if Bakkt was giving special attention to the CFTC, he refused to answer directly and only said diplomatically that they were working hard on every request they had on the table. In particular, this question was raised in connection with rumors that several legislators were trying to push the CFTC to approve Bakkt's request as soon as possible.

Despite the fact that Bakkt is still waiting for official launch, he continues to raise funds from investors. While last year, they gained more than $ 180 million, according to an article published yesterday by CoinTelegraph, in the first three months of this year, Bakkt managed to get more money and is currently estimated at 740 million USD.
