The world's second largest stock exchange, NASDAQ, has announced that it has added a new XRP Liquid Index (XRPLX) to its worldwide data service.
The XRP cryptocurrency index was developed in partnership with Brave New Coin, which sends real-time XRP information to the Nasdaq Global Index Data Service SM (GIDS).
“XRPLX resources are the source of the most liquid exchanges by order and volume. Currently, it includes data from stock exchanges such as Bitfinex, Bitstamp, and Poloniex, while Coinbase and Kraken will be added in the next revision, ”says Brave New Coin.
GIDS is a service designed to provide real-time values for its indexes and listed ETPs, while Nasdaq also builds and provides additional information based on them. Already in February, Nasdaq started to support Bitcoin and Ethereum (Bitcoin Liquid Index BLX and Ethereum Liquid Index ELX).
Nasdaq plans to launch Bitcoin Futures this year and these indices suggest that cryptocurrency are becoming increasingly serious.
Co-branded indexes in co-operation with the German company Solactive have recently launched the Coinmarketcap portal. These were CMC Crypto 200 index (CMC200) and CMC Crypto 200 ex BTC index (CMC200EX). While the first monitors the prices of the top 200 cryptocurrency , including Bitcoin, the latter monitors the 200 most valuable cryptocurrency without it.
