We're gearing up for Earth Day, April 22nd. Here's a quick post about card number 1.
The Northern Mockingbird, Mimus polyglottos, is not endangered. It's also one of the few birds in series 1 that I have a personal relationship with. One lives in my neighborhood and annually posts himself outside my bedroom window, singing his heart out. This would be charming except he's looking for love at 2am. He's determined too, singing loudly for an hour at least. Because this species is the only mocking bird in North America, identifying him was simple. It's not a particularly showy bird, but is known for being intelligent. They're omnivorous too, eating bugs, berries, worms and seeds. Their sex life can get complicated as mating can be perpetually competitive. ( been there :| ). Even though I get woken up at 2am for awhile, I've gotten attached to my Mockingbird neighbor. That's why he's card #1.
The species status is "Least Concern" so it will have a larger edition at a lower cost.
