For The Birds is an original series of pixel art featuring birds of the world.
Proceeds will be donated to the World Land Trust, an organization that protects rainforest around the world.
First a couple updates!
The illustrations for series 1 are complete! We're moving to our own URL, ForTheBirds.org. Links will be updated once the move is done.

For The Birds is not the first charity to come from crypto, not even the first charitable NFT. Blockchains are all about properly incentivizing an international community to work together for the good of all. Still many projects go further into charity. Here are a handful of past and current activists that inspired us. Admittedly, some were a little concerning, but still exciting!
- Nerva, a highly private currency doesn't have any of Monero's shady reputation. Maybe because the community is so generous. Currently 2,000 XNV is in their donation account and last year they donated $1,000 to help increase literacy in Kiev, Ukraine.
- PengolinCoin, a dash fork, was built with the intention to raise awareness of pangolin smuggling. The animal is estimated to be the most trafficked animal in the world. They haven't just raised awareness though, at least 150$ has been donated to the Pangolin Crisis Fund. This project is still very new so I expect a lot more in their future.
- A cyber crime group attempted to donate a large sum of bitcoin to charities. It's unclear what came of it though as charities could not legally accept it, but could not technically return it.
- Banano partnered with a protein folding application to advance research in creating the COVID vaccine. They provided their currency as a reward to help incentivize more people to join in.
- Various institutions and extremely wealthy individuals donated crypto as well, including Binance, Stellar Foundation, Jack Dorsey, Filecoin, BitMEX, Kraken, Greyscale, and Pavel Durov amounting to many millions. Of course we hope this isn't just moral licensing like a known tactic of a certain social media giant.
- Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and BNB communities joined up to support the Rural Fire Service last year when brushfires were ravaging Australia. They raised thousands of dollar to feed the firefighters and replant wildlife.
- When part of the Notre Dame was destroyed, a crypto fund was set up to help restore it and has raised thousands of dollars so far.
- Venezuela was able to feed thousands of starving residents thanks to Bitcoin donations.
- The Pineapple Fund supports many charities through bitcoin donations and has raised over 50,000$ so far.
- Of course the king of charitable crypto is DogeCoin. Doge4Water raised over 31,000 dollars to bring clean water into Kenya. Their currently raising funds for dog rescue and have over 2,000$ in under a month. Previously they raised another 30,000 to send a Jamaican bobsled team to the olympics and donated computer power to cancer research. Much WOW!
The crypto community is generous! Let's see how much rainforest we can protect. I'm sure I've missed some great ones. What's your favorite crypto charity project?
Through the World Land Trust, each acre of rainforest is only 100£. Let's be part of something bigger! See the collection! Drops start Earth Day, April 22nd on Atomic Hub.
