The Next Crypto ETF: VanEck's Solana Filing Sparks Frenzy, But I'm Eyeing Arthur Hayes' Hidden Gem

The news of VanEck filing for a Solana ETF has everyone buzzing, but I can't help but shift my focus to a different crypto contender that Arthur Hayes recently hinted at. While the SEC seems more open to spot crypto ETFs, I'm curious if this potential "Solana killer" could also become an ETF. I'm also wondering which other crypto could meet ETF requirements. And I think there will be at least two potential candidates... If Solana ETF is approved.

I'm talking about either Avalanche (AVAX) or Aptos (APT), two promising layer 1 blockchain platforms that could meet ETF requirements.

Avalanche (AVAX)

  • History: Launched in 2020 by Ava Labs, Avalanche quickly gained traction due to its innovative consensus mechanism and impressive transaction speeds.
  • How it works: Avalanche utilizes a unique three-chain architecture that allows for high throughput, low fees, and fast finality. It's designed to be a highly scalable platform for decentralized applications (dApps) and enterprise solutions.
  • Who's behind it: The project is led by Emin Gün Sirer, a renowned computer scientist and Cornell professor, along with a team of experienced developers and researchers.

Aptos (APT)

  • History: Aptos emerged from the ashes of Meta's (formerly Facebook) failed Diem project. It was founded in 2022 by former Diem engineers who wanted to continue their work on building a scalable and secure blockchain.
  • How it works: Aptos utilizes a novel parallel execution engine and a Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus mechanism to achieve high throughput and fast transaction speeds. It's designed to be a developer-friendly platform for building Web3 applications.
  • Who's behind it: The project is led by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, two experienced engineers with a background in blockchain technology.

Decentralization and investor demand are crucial factors in ETF approval, and both AVAX and APT seem to fit the bill. However, it depends on external factors like US election...

I'll dive deeper into this analysis in my next posts and videos. Click here for my YouTube video about Aptos.

As usual, that's not financial advice. DYOR.
