It's been a hot minute since I last logged into the HIVE blockchain. Actually it was November of 2022 to be exact. So a little over 2 years. I decided to give Splinterlands a try again because of an article I read from PVM about it being 4 years since he started playing it and it reminded me that I used to love the game but just sucked at it and still had all my stuff just sitting there.
So about a week ago I decided to dive back into the game. A lot has changed since I last played. You don't earn DEC anymore for battles you earn "Glint"
I played a few games...
I bought a few cards on WAX blockchain and sent them over to HIVE (I had issues and had to open a ticket with support but got it worked out)
I went through my staked SPS and also saw I had Nightmare packs for their Tower Defense game. So I opened those of course and tried out "SoulKeep". I love Tower Defense games but this version definitely requires you to have decent cards to progress
I got all the way up to League 2 and Gateway 1 before I hit a wall and can't pass. So this will be on the back burner until I get better cards I think.
But back to Splinterlands proper. Here is my last Season Rewards. Not great but for me just starting back and trying to figure it all out again I am happy.
With my new found rewards we are going to buy some cards! A Rare and 3 Common I think is best. So lets give it a go.
Rare Card is "Dragon Egg Forager"

From what I gather when you buy cards with Glint they are locked down. Meaning you can't sell or rent them until you unlock them with DEC. Basically you don't "own" the card until you pay DEC to unlock them. Which is OK with me because I just need cards to play with. Maybe down the road I will start unlocking cards and trying to sell or rent them. But for now I just need cards so I don't have to rent them myself to actually battle and win.
First battle and we got the "W"!
All I can say is that this is a fun game still and I look forward to keep playing it and keep writing about it and seeing how high I can get. But also let's be real... I also want to see how much I can make from playing Splinterlands. Right now I am taking it as everything I have in the game already is washed so anything I make going forward is pure profit!
I do have some cards though so I am not starting from nothing :)
