So Publish0x is holding a competition/giveaway right now that involves the new tipping crypto of Loopring (LRC). Short version is that Loopring created their own DEX that is in a early Beta phase and wants guinea pigs. So they are giving away $5 worth of LRC to the first 40 people who trade on the DEX. and then they are giving away another $100 in LRC to people who write articles about their trading experiences on the DEX. That is exactly what this article is. Buckle up while I take you on this train wreck that they call Loopring.io.

I went to loopring.io, and it seemed like a normal DEX but with a lot less trading pairs. However that makes sense because it is Beta 1. For those who don't know, when you hear DEX think of a intimidating website that lets you trade cryptos for other cryptos. DEX = Direct Exchange. Got it? Good!

I got to the website and I checked the trading pairs and figured I would give it a go. I mean it is a free $5 of LRC, so why not? I clicked on the Login blue button in the top right and saw that you can login with MetaMask or Wallet Connect. And this is where my idiocracy begins. At first I was bummed because I use Trust Wallet mainly for storing my assets (a few other smaller wallets too). I used to use MetaMask but grew to not like it so I transferred my money out of MetaMask.

For the competition you need to trade roughly $5 worth of tokens to be entered. So I transferred a little more than $6 of ETH to my MetaMask account. I paid a stupid gas tax and BOOM it was there. I then went to login to loopring.io with MetaMask and the popup was being really weird for me. It was after about 10 seconds that I decided to say F it and give up. That's when I had the profound idea to look on Trust Wallet and see if they were enabled with Wallet Connect. And wouldn't you know they were!

Like the genius I am I transferred my ETH back to Trust Wallet. When you send tokens from MetaMask you can pick a gas tax speed of low, medium or fast. And you pay more for fast. Of course I picked slow because I want to save my money as much as possible. 45 minutes later this is the screen I am starring at still.

It was pending for a good hour before it finally sent back to Trust Wallet. Don't be stupid and impatient like me, do research before you start sending your money over the internet back and forth and waste money. I know everyone is probably thinking, why didn't you just keep trying with MetaMask to sign in and such. Well because once I perform the trade on loopring.io and if I get the $5 from Publish0x I didn't want it attached to MetaMask but Trust Wallet. I know it's stupid and I wish I didn't because I waited way to long for this step.

Here is where it all went to shit ladies and gentlemen.  I finally got my ETH back into my Trust Wallet. Then I tried to deposit it into my Loopring account to perform the trade in order to get the $5 in free LRC for the challenge. Well this whole Wallet Connect and Loopring integration is terrible. When you perform a action like withdrawing or depositing funds you are supposed to get a popup in the app asking you to authorize it. Makes sense right? Well just because it says there will be a popup doesn't mean there will be a popup! But my Wallet got stuck on trying to scan a QR code because that was the last thing it got from Loopring. There is no way to get out of the QR code scanning until you actually scan a QR code. So that chaos happened for about 10 minutes. I forced closed the app, rebooted my phone, forced closed the app another 10 times and nothing seemed to work.

Then I thought to myself, hey dummy just try to use the MetaMask wallet instead. I mean if I could at least get signed into Loopring with MetaMask then it should work fine right? NOPE. I tried to sign out of Loopring.io so I could sign in with MetaMask. However, it wouldn't let me. 

I clicked on "Logout".

Then I clicked on "Yes, Log me out". The little popup window closed and nothing happened. So I tried to sign out again. I tried 7 times before I gave up.

So ladies and gentlemen let's recap:

I was somehow able to deposit $1.51 worth of DAI into Loopring (before I realized you needed at least 5 DAI to trade).

I have officially given up on Loopring.io and the DEX.

I didn't perform a trade on Loopring.io and there by did not earn the $5 of LRC from the competition.

I am done with Loopring.io and won't try it again (even though it stills has $1.51 of my DAI). 

I am just thankful I didn't lose anymore money on Loopring.

If you close the tab that Loopring.io is open it, then it will log you out. And I did go back and try to create an account with MetaMask instead and then realized that in order to create an account on Loopring you need to send a small amount of ETH to authorize it. $5 of free LRC is not worth losing more ETH on this idiotic exchange.

So yeah Publish0x is holding the competition and if you want to give your hand at it then by all means go for it. Learn from my mistakes or my stupidity and do better.

EDIT: I did want to clear 2 things up.

1) I applaud Loopring.io for NOT requiring KYC. That means you don't have to give them any personal information to setup an account. I can't say this enough how much I appreciate that.

2) You can NOT withdraw your Publish0x earnings to Loopring.io. You have to withdraw it to a wallet first and then deposit it into your Loopring.io account.
