Sketches for Inktober days 14 to 16, Empty, Armadillo, Fowl - pencil and colored pencil

Inktober 14-16: Empty, Armadillo, Fowl

Day 14: Empty

This was the third is a string of very abstract prompt words, and I wasn't initially sure what to draw. I considered drawing a famous moron and shining a flashlight in one of his ears so the light would come out the other ear, but it turned out on a brief image search that this was a very common solution to the prompt. I thought about what else might be empty, and under what circumstances, and then I remembered that Halloween is coming...

Open grave with skeleton crawling out - pencil

Day 15: Armadillo

Armadillo standing - pencil and colored pencil

I spent some time looking at pictures of armadillos, and I liked this standing one best. I didn't realize how HAIRY they are under that carapace! I think I should have drawn this on a larger scale, so there would be more room to draw the shaggy fur in the underneath spaces.

Day 16: Fowl

Baby fowl, not sure what kind - pencil

I think this is my favorite of the sketches I am posting today - Although I am seeing a couple of lines that I could profitably erase, particularly where the thigh meets the leg on the near side, I am pretty happy with how the head came out, and the overall shape, and particularly with the scaliness of the lower legs.

More than halfway through Inktober! I hope you're having a great month :D
