I haven't been too good about posting new drawings in December this year, mostly because of holiday prep. For example, last week I baked a couple batches of cookies rather than drawing during my Wednesday night drawing zoom. But this week, I am back on track. I have been doing a lot of figure drawing workshops, and seeing some progress on that front. My feet and hands are much improved, and my faces, while still uncanny and cartoonish when I'm being timed, are getting gradually better. I wanted to do something with a little more action, that incorporated some figures, and I figured that this was a decent opportunity to return to my water-drawing practice.
Here's what I drew this evening:

I really like how the figure came out, particularly the way the orange light reflects off it, and I love the way the water splashes up around it.
I had some trouble with the way the sky color reflects on the water, and I am still not 100% satisfied with those elements, but I will say that at the end of the evening, they were much better than they were at the beginning of the evening. So that's progress - there's always something to practice, of course, and revision and effort pay off even faster than that.
Thanks for looking at my pictures!
