This evening during my Wednesday evening art zoom, I drew from a reference photo that I have used before, in mid-2021, to see if it would come out better this time. In some important ways, I think it did come out better. In a couple of ways, the earlier version is superior, but I am not too worried about it, because I still know how to incorporate those elements in the next version.

I think his eyes were better, both in shape and size, in the older sketch. However, those are not hard to fix - you just have to notice them before it's too late. That's all about practice, and I will have my eyes open for it next time.
I think the use of shading with colored pencils is better in the new one. I'll certainly draw this again after a few more months have gone by.
