The Righteous Gemstones (2019) [EN-IT]

Danny McBride is synonymous of comedy in HBO house, since 2009 with the television series Eastbound & Down in which he played the role of Kenny Powers, an old baseball player who, after a career that was a little too fast, seeks revenge in the same world in which he had too many excesses, Danny was one of the series creators and writers, the same fate for Vice Principle where between him and Walton Goggins a competition between two vice principals is unleashed to arrive at the much coveted school principal desk.

Also this time he will be together marginally with Goggins, but not only, this time the cast is almost stellar, the good Danny seems to be able to aspire much higher than in the past, quite logical consequence after so much training and consequent success obtained in the States thanks also to his much more famous friends James Franco and Seth Rogen.

This year he returned to American TV again as a writer, writer and actor with his The Righteous Gemstones, always with his inimitable black humor, this time the sport has nothing to do with it, it is the irony turn on the spiritual "holy men" who invent their own religion but deep down...

The story heart is in that "deep down", because Danny has so much to hide and will have so many troubles to solve, all with the help of some of his very special friends as well as his younger brother, played by Adam Devine launched from Modern Family and the sister played by Edi Patterson, already present in Vice Principals.

At the head of the family there is a real film legend, John Goodman in the role of the severe and fiscal founding father, head of the congregation, but for his family he will be willing to close more than one eye.

As usual, television series and films in which Danny McBride is involved turn out to be goliardic and with a strong and black humor, the themes touched will be many and not in delicate way, as he always does very well.

A critique of today's greedy and dupe society, willing to do anything to assert its "healthy" principles and that would not stop at any time in any case, all this in a comic way facing many taboos that in a society now advanced like the one in which we live nowadays they have no meaning to exist.

Danny McBride è sinonimo di comicità in casa HBO, sin dal 2009 con la serie televisiva Eastbound & Down nella quale interpretava i panni di Kenny Powers, un giocatore di baseball attempato il quale dopo una carriera un po' troppo spinta cerca rivalsa nello stesso mondo nel quale ha avuto troppi eccessi, Danny é stato uno dei creatori e scrittori della serie , stessa sorte per Vice Principle dove tra lui e Walton Goggins si scatena una gara tra due vice presidi per arrivare alla tanto ambita cattedra di Preside scolastico.

Anche questa volta sarà accompagnato marginalmente da Goggins, ma non soltanto, questa volta il cast é quasi stellare, il buon Danny sembra poter ambire molto più in alto rispetto al passato, conseguenza abbastanza logica dopo tanta gavetta e conseguente successo ottenuto negli States grazie anche ai suoi ben più famosi amici James Franco e Seth Rogen.

Quest'anno é tornato nuovamente sulla TV Americana nelle vesti di scrittore, sceneggiatore ed attore con la sua The Righteous Gemstones, sempre dotato del suo inimitabile humor nero, questa volta lo sport non c'entra nulla, é il turno dell'ironia sui Santoni spirituali che si inventano una religione tutta loro ma sotto sotto...

Il fulcro della storia é proprio quel "sotto sotto", perché Danny ha tanto da nascondere e avrà tante magagne da risolvere, il tutto con l'aiuto di alcuni suoi amici molto particolari oltre che al fratello più piccolo, interpretato da Adam Devine lanciato da Modern Family e la sorella Edi Patterson, già presente in Vice Principals.

A capo della famiglia vi si trova una vera e propria leggenda cinematografica, John Goodman nelle vesti del padre fondatore della congregazione severo e fiscale che però per la propria famiglia sarà disposto a chiudere ben più di un occhio.

Come al solito serie televisive e film che vedono coinvolte Danny McBride risultano essere goliardiche e dalla spiccata comicità nuda e cruda, i temi toccati saranno molti e con molto poco tatto, come riesce a fare sempre benissimo.

Una critica alla società odierna, avida e credulona, disposta a tutto per fare valere i propri "sani" principi e che non si fermerebbe davanti a nulla in alcun caso, tutto questo in chiave comica e affrontando molti tabù che in una società ormai avanzata come quella nella quale viviamo oggigiorno non hanno senso di esistere.
