The death of Edward the 2nd

In my youth, I read a series of fascinated books by Maurice Druon The Accursed Kings. These books cover the medieval period of the so-called "100-year war" between France and England. One of the interesting and gruesome moments of this tale was the death of King Edward the 2nd. This man was gay, and in order for him to consummate the marriage and produce the royal hair to the throne, he needed to put a man in bed, to get him excited enough to ejaculate. In the book, he died the most horrible death. It is said that a rod of melting iron was inserted in his anus. However naturally it was presented in the novel, still, I was curious whether this was indeed true. Lucky for me I found this video on Youtube where modern science had to answer this intriguing question. )
