The first NFT projects in history date back to 2015, even if they only exploded in 2021. Surely the two most valuable collections are Bored Ape (which distinguish famous people, sportsmen and even those who bought them when they were not worth much) and the CryptoPunks. Bored Ape is literally a club complete with rallies, meetings and a metaverse under construction. Instead CryptoPunks has become famous because they represent the first NFT in history. Others that can be mentioned are Ether Rocks, Curio Cards, CryptoCats, Realms Of Ether, CryptoKitties, MoonCats and the like.
A very old project dating back to 2018 that has risen to prominence in the last few days is Immortal Player Characters. On Opensea the volumes and the floor price have increased a lot in the last few days.
This project was launched by game designer Ed Annunziata and the first minting dates back to March 15, 2018. These NFT were distributed through a physical Paper Wallet: with private and public keys (the cost was $ 4.99). The total collection amounts to 12,000 NFT, however the rarest ones are the first 2604 (all dating back to 2018). Obviously they are classified according to their number of mints (the first 2604 are also the most expensive and their floor price is around 0.4 ETH). Ed Annuziata is the creator of Ecco The Dolphin and directs the titles of Sega Genesis (X-Men I & II, Spider-Man, Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors Of The Eternal Sun, etc). Immortal Player Characters is a series of NFTs that depict a character with certain stats: hair, height, skin color, gender, dexterity, luck, etc.These stats allow each NFT to be used interoperably in different blockchain games. They are also ERC721 compliant, although the contract was implemented prior to the official start of the ERC721 era on March 19, 2018 with SuSquares.
The idea behind it was to build independent characters that could be ported to multiple games / metaverses.
The project was created by the Playchemy team, a video game studio based in California (USA). The 2D RPG pixel art was done in an 8-bit (very vintage) style. In 2018, IPC were physically claimed, mainly by email, using the innovative Paper Wallet system. Paper Wallets are wallets with each its IPC coined inside, with the private key printed on one side and the IPC statistics printed on the other side. Prior to this boom, Playchemy had around 500 IPC minted in 2018 for sale (via Paypal). The photo below is taken from their official site, it's not my private key! :-)
There are two excellent Dapps for interacting with your NFT. The classic solution is the IPC Explorer, on the Apple Store and the Google Play Store app that allows you to view your IPC in augmented reality or AR. Scan your IPC QR code (the one below), then point your phone's camera at the IPC logo. Your IPC will appear animated in augmented reality.
The other Dapp is a recently updated online IPC viewer called MyIPC.io. Developed by Johnny de Alba / mode7.eth for Playchemy, MyIPC is a great way to watch Immortal Player Characters' entire NFT collection. The easiest way to buy these NFT is obviously to do so from their official page on Opensea: Opensea (Immortal Player Characters).
For the moment the NFT appear only in preview and the only way to view them is to copy their serial number (for example 1366) and paste it here: MyIPC.io
In addition to seeing the avatar we will also read the various statistics and more importantly the date on which the asset was created. Another thing to check is "subrace" which indicates the type of character and how many there are around of the same. We can verify it through this table:
