Three Bitcoins and One Truth

By CubanCrypt | CubanCrypt | 24 Apr 2026

"In the Bitcoin family, someone is in charge, someone else obeys, and there's always the one who's late."

There's a misconception I see every day in the market: people trading Bitcoin as if it were all the same.
And it's not.

Bitcoin isn't just one thing.

Well, technically it is. But in the financial world, there are at least three versions of it, and each one has its own schedule, its own personality, and its own utility.

Let's introduce the family.

1. The Real Bitcoin: The One That Never Sleeps (Spot).

This is the original Bitcoin. The one on the blockchain. The one you can keep in a cold wallet, send to a friend at 3 a.m., or sell on a Sunday afternoon while having coffee.

Schedule: 24/7. 365 days a year.
Personality: The Owner of the House. The one who sets the pace. The one who moves when there's news, when China sneezes, or when Elon tweets.

If you want real freedom, this is the one for you.
You don't ask anyone for permission to trade. You don't wait for any doors to open.

2. The Cousin Who Works in the City (CME Futures).

This is Bitcoin, but in a suit and tie. It was created so that large funds can trade it within the traditional system.

Hours: 18:00 to 17:00 (NY time). Yes, it has set hours, like an office worker.
Personality: Serious, regulated, institutional. When it moves, the newspapers write.

But beware: when the cousin goes to sleep, the real Bitcoin is still awake.
And when the cousin opens the next day, sometimes he finds that the party is over… or just getting started.

3. The Little Cousin Who Lives on Your Phone (ETF).

This is Bitcoin for those who want exposure… but without the hassle. You buy it from your stock app, just like an Apple stock.

Hours: Only from 09:30 to 16:00, Wall Street time.
Personality: Dependent, obedient, follows the futures.

The problem is that when the little cousin wakes up on Monday at 9:30 AM, the real Bitcoin has already had a whole weekend of adventures.
And that's where the gaps form, those price differences that many don't understand and others take advantage of.

The One Who Rules the Family is the Spot.

Futures follow the spot.
ETFs follow the futures.
But the spot doesn't follow anyone.

The spot is like the grandfather sitting at the head of the table.
Everyone else arrives, asks how his day was, and adjusts their conversation based on what he says.

So, where should you trade?

It depends on what you're looking for:

• If you want flexible trading hours and to trade whenever you want → Spot.
• If you want to play the institutional game with fixed trading hours → Futures.
• If you want exposure without leaving your stock account → ETFs.

But if you ask me, those who understand the game trade where the price is formed first: in the spot market.

My personal recommendation.

I trade on an exchange that understands this.
Where Bitcoin is Bitcoin, without schedules, without hassles, without having to wait for anyone to open the door.

Ultimately, it's not about selling you anything.
It's about understanding who's awake when you trade.

Because if you don't know that…
you're operating with your eyes closed.
