Come On, Feel the Noise App

Quite frankly, I'm not sure that I do, any more (and I do know why). Given that Simon (the site's owner and lead developer) has stopped responding to messages and mentions, as well as stopped posting about the progress and ETAs of further developments to the site, I'm beginning to suspect that he's simply lost interest and it's time to leave noise.app for alternatives. What has given that decision even more validity in my mind is that while I can change the text of my profile, I cannot change my BCH donation address, nor can I delete it and add another one. (While that functionality does exist, according to a screenshot from another user, it doesn't work in my browser; the button is part of the DOM but invisible. So much for doing browser compatibility testing ...) That would be somewhat inconvenient, if I was regularly receiving tips on the site (which I haven't since the beginning of February). The fact that I can't pin at least one post means that anyone who does feel generous enough to tip me will probably miss the notification to use a different address, even though I've mentioned the new one in my profile there.

Anyway, here's what alternativeto.net and a few other sites suggest for noise.cash (since noise.app isn't found in Alternative To's search results):

Note: Please keep in mind that I haven't yet looked at any of these (other than My Lot, which pays USD to PayPal and isn't listed on alternative.to):

  • Minds: An open-source decentralised and privacy-focused social media platform
  • Flote: Decentralised social media network steering clear of Big Tech and vague community guidelines
  • Memo.cash: Micro-blogging platform using BCH.
  • Ignite: Decentralised platform that uses Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and is big on anonymity and security

I know that one of the users of Noise (and I think also Pub0x) uses Memo. IMO, it's the first one at which I'm going to look. I'll also check out the other options, since I know almost nothing about them. If you know of something (other than Roughee or Hive, which doesn't interest me), please feel free to leave a comment giving a summary of what you recommend. Thank you.

The content of this blog is exclusively to do with online privacy/security, cryptography and cryptocurrency: Understanding it, investing in it, mining it (in groups/crowds), developing/programming it, the social problems it aims to solve and the various ways to make more of it (or not, as various losses and failures happen). Let's get away from banksters, Capitalists and fiat, to an unbanked anarcho-syndicalist commune. || Banner image: Blogger's own.
