UEFA Champions League Final

Good day everyone,

I hope you are all well and have had an excellent week, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. Today I will be doing a recap on the UEFA Champions League Final which was played out last night between Manchester City and Inter Milan.

Manchester City 1-0 Inter Milan

Rodri

Many expected City to dominate this game but in fact it was a very close and tight affair, with Inter showing just how capable they were throughout. Things were made more difficult for the English side when talisman De Bruyne was forced off in the first half, making it the second time in three seasons that he has departed a Champions League final. Ederson looked shaky in between the City sticks while Haaland only managed one shot in the entirety of the first half. Inter were organised and solid and Man City needed a boosting in the second half.

After the break City looked just as nervous and it required Ederson to stop Martinez opening the scoring after Akanji had let the ball run through. Lukaku came on to replace Dzeko for Inter and provided a presence upfront, making Pep tense and worried. However, on 68 minutes it all changed. Man City had began applying some pressure, and got their reward. Bernardo Silva managed to cut the ball back to Rodri in the area and he smashed an effort beyond the defenders and inside the post to break the deadlock. Dimarco headed against the bar late on as Inter looked to get level, and the rebound header by Dimarco was destined for the net only to hit Lukaku in the legs. The Belgian striker had an excellent chance late on to get a goal as with just minutes left he somehow managed to head the ball at Ederson when it looked easier to score.

The win marked the 300th for Pep Guardiola from 413 games in charge of Manchester City. It also made City the sixth English side to win the UEFA Champions League, after:

Liverpool - 6

Manchester United - 3

Chelsea -2

Nottingham Forest - 2

Aston Villa - 1

Manchester City have completed the treble of the Premier League, FA Cup, and UEFA Champions League. They became the first side since Manchester United in 1999 to complete the feat, and Pep Guardiola has written his side into the history books as one of the greatest ever. While there are still the 115 charges from the Premier League hanging over the club, for now Pep can relax and celebrate knowing he has finally delivered the coveted UEFA Champions League Trophy which Manchester City have been determined to win for so long.
