With the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stages now complete and the final 16 teams decided, I will do a review and update from my previous prediction's, looking at what I got right and wrong, and seeing who I will now back to go all the way in Qatar. The Groups
Below is a quick roundup of how the groups finished at this years World Cup in Qatar as per the FIFA.com website. There have been some surprise eliminations and disappointment for some of the biggest teams including Germany, Mexico and Belgium. The hosts were not up to standard and ended up losing all their group games, confirming them as the worst participating host nation of the World Cup.
My previous predictions did not quite work out as planned, although I did manage to get some correct, as I have shown below.

Poland ❌ (I had Mexico)
Group D

Australia ❌ (I had Denmark)

Croatia ❌ (I had Canada)

Switzerland ❌ (I had Serbia)

Portugal ❌ (I had Uruguay)
Korea Republic ❌ (I had Portugal as second)
Previous Winner Prediction
Before the competition began I was backing Argentina to emerge as the overall winner, beating France in the final. I had also backed Brazil to beat Uruguay in the Third Place Playoff. That will not be possible now, as Uruguay did not manage to get through their group.
New Prediction
As you can see below, the Round of 16 line-up has been completed and we now know who can face each other all the way to the final. From the tree below as per the FIFA.com website, there are some interesting games ahead.

Third Place: Brazil
Will my predictions be right? Having watched the groups games I have stuck to my guns with Argentina and feel that even though they were not at their best in the group stage, anything is possible now we are into the knockout rounds. I have however decided I think England would have enough to get past France, although really anything is possible and we could easily see a Morocco, Senegal, or Korea go far in the tournament.
