Good day everyone,
I hope you are all well and had an excellent week, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. With the 2022 FIFA World Cup complete and after one of the most amazing finals ever, we know that Argentina are the champions of the world in 2022.
You can find my prediction here: 2022 FIFA World Cup Prediction
You can also find the update I did after the group stages here: 2022 FIFA World Cup Prediction Update
My Predictions
In both my original and updated predictions I went for Argentina as the winners. Even after seeing them struggle in the group stage, especially in their opener against Saudi Arabia, I back them to go all the way and confirm Messi as a World Champion. Interestingly, I had also backed France to make it to the final and lose to Argentina, although I never in my wildest dreams expected such an exciting final which included a hattrick for Mbappé.
However, in my revised version after seeing the group games, I actually thought England would manage to beat France and go all the way to the final, still to fall at the final hurdle against the Argentinians.

Things did not go quite as I had expected in terms of who would make the Semi Finals, as I had expected Argentina to be playing Brazil, while France would be playing Uruguay in my original predictions. I was someway off with these, as of course Brazil lost to Croatia in the Quarter Finals and Uruguay never made it out of their group. I did however predict the Brazil would have won the Third Place Playoff, and considering the team who knocked them out did go on to win that game, I am somewhat pleased with that prediction.
In my revised version, I had actually backed Argentina to play Brazil as per my original one, but on the other side of the tree I had thought it would be England playing against Spain. Both these sides fell out in the Quarter finals, to France and Morocco respectively, so I was wrong. To be fair though, who honestly thought Morocco would be so amazing in this tournament? It was a great showing from them.

Records
So there you have it. In both my original and revised after the group stage Predictions I had backed Argentina to win the 2022 Qatar World Cup. It was a night to remember for Messi, who finally emerged from Maradona's shadow to land the worlds biggest prize for his nation.
It was also a World Cup of ultimate despair for Mbappé, but he amazingly managed to score 8 goals, leaving him 1 ahead of Messi in the Golden Boot and miles ahead of the rest.
Messi also did the unthinkable and managed to score a goal in the round of 16, the quarter finals, the semi final, and the final of the World Cup, becoming the first player to ever do so.
Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score in 5 different World Cups, while Morocco became the first African nation to reach a World Cup Semi Final.
There were 172 goals in all during the tournament, with an average of 2.68 per game.
Below is the goal scorers chart for the tournament, which saw some amazing and excellent strikes.

The goals scored here means the overall all time list of scorers has been updated, and although he suffered heartbreak in Qatar, it looks likely that Mbappé will go down as the top scorer of all time if he can maintain this rate in 4 years time, assuming France qualify. There are some amazing names and legends of the game on this list, so to see Mbappé so high up on it is a true testament to his ability, and Klose is likely to loose his record in 2026.

Finally, congratulations to Lionel Messi in his special Qatari robe and Argentina for lifting the FIFA World Cup, after their loss in Brazil in 2014 against Germany, this was a well deserved victory.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the impending return to club football. Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
