Easy Doesn't Mean Ineffective

I have an idea I thought about a long time ago, back when I had quite a bit of DEC saved up and wasn’t really sure what to do with it.

At the time, DEC was worth much more — it was 10 times above its peg – those were the days! 🤣 – and in the end, after waiting too long, I watched it drop to its current value and, in fact, at times even much lower, so my “problem” – what to do with all that DEC – solved itself when I found myself with a dollar value over ten times lower than when I started…

… but today things are a bit different.

That time has passed and now, instead of having a large DEC reserve, I have a steady incoming flow, which I then reinvest in assets that can, in turn, generate a profit.

Part of this DEC I reinvest every 15 days into buying SPS, while another portion I used to purchase Rebellion set cards.

Now, though, I’m not sure what else to do with it, because:

• I have enough Rebellion cards and I’m not interested in buying more now that their price has increased so much;
• I’d like to buy Conclave Arcana cards, but I want to wait until more packs are opened before evaluating whether the current price is too high or not;
• I’m already regularly buying SPS and for now I don’t want to buy more than I already am;
• providing liquidity to the in-game pools is interesting, but it’s something I want to continue doing gradually, a bit at a time.

There’s nothing I feel convinced about reinvesting in… but I also don’t want to withdraw funds from Splinterlands, since my long-term goal is to grow my investment, not reduce it.

So I’d like to bring back that idea I mentioned at the beginning of this post.

And what’s that idea?

One Word: HBD

Even though it’s actually three: Hive Backed Dollar.

Here’s the plan: periodically I would convert the DEC I earn – minus what I convert into SPS – and use it to buy SWAP.HBD on Hive-Engine.

Then I would move that token to Hive, receiving HBD in return.

The HBD obtained this way would be staked, immediately starting to earn 15% interest.

When a few months from now I have a clearer idea, I’ll unstake the HBD – including the interest earned – and use it to buy Splinterlands assets.

This way, I can put the DEC I have to work and take advantage of the fact that it’s fairly close to its peg: if DEC were to move away from the peg in the future, I could use the HBD to buy even more DEC, so either way this seems like a low-risk move that protects my funds, generates yield, and still leaves me free to purchase whatever I want later.

That way I’d complete the cycle: every asset I own on Splinterlands helps generate a flow of DEC, and this DEC in turn earns 15% interest thanks to a temporary conversion into HBD.

It seems like a good plan to me: simple, yes — but not for that reason any less effective!

Facile Non Significa Inefficace

Ho un'idea a cui pensavo molto tempo fa, quando avevo diverso DEC da parte e non sapevo bene che farci.

All'epoca DEC valeva molto di più, era 10 volte sopra al suo peg - bei tempi! 🤣 - e alla fine, a forza di aspettare, l'ho visto scendere al suo valore attuale e, anzi, in dei momenti, anche parecchio più in basso, per cui il mio "problema" - cosa fare di tutto quel DEC - si risolse da solo quando mi ritrovai con un controvalore in dollari di oltre dieci volte inferiore rispetto a quello iniziale...

... ma oggi le cose sono un po' diverse.

Ormai quel periodo andato e adesso, invece che avere da parte tanto DEC ho un flusso costante in entrata, che poi reinvesto in assets che possano a loro volta generare un profitto.

Parte di questo DEC lo reinvesto ogni 15 giorni nell'acquisto di SPS, mentre altro l'ho utilizzato per acquistare carte del set Rebellion.

Adesso però non so bene cos'altro farci, infatti:

• ho abbastanza carte del set Rebellion e non mi interessa acquistarne altre ora che sono così tanto aumentate di prezzo;
• vorrei comprare carte del set Conclave Arcana, ma voglio aspettare che siano stati aperti altri pacchetti, prima di valutare se il loro prezzo attuale sia, o meno, troppo alto;
• sto già acquistando regolarmente SPS e per ora non voglio acquistarne più di così;
• fornire liquidità alle pool ingame è interessante, ma è un qualcosa che voglio continuare a fare con calma, un po' di risorse alla volta.

Non c'è niente per cui sul quale mi senta convinto di reinvestire... ma non voglio neanche sottrarre risorse da Splinterlands, visto che il mio obiettivo sul lungo termine è accrescere il mio investimento, non ridurlo.

Ecco quindi che vorrei ritirare fuori quell'idea cui accennavo all'inizio di questo post.

E quale è questa idea?

Una parola: HBD

Anche se in realtà sono tre: Hive Backed Dollar.

Il piano sarebbe questo: periodicamente convertirei il DEC che guadagno - meno quello che converto in SPS - e lo utilizzerei per acquistare SWAP.HBD su Hive-Engine.

Dopo di che sposterei questo token su Hive, ottenendo in cambio HBD.

Gli HBD così ottenuti li metterei in staking, iniziando così subito ad ottenere un interesse del 15%.

Quando fra qualche mese avrò le idee più chiare, faro l'unstake di questi HBD, comprese le somme guadagnate come interessi, e li utilizzerò per acquistare assets di Splinterlands.

In questo modo posso far fruttare il DEC che ho da parte ed approfittare del fatto che sia abbastanza vicino al peg: se un domani DEC dovesse allontanarsi dal peg potrei usare gli HBD per acquistare ancora più DEC, per cui in ogni caso mi sembra una mossa poco rischiosa, che mette al sicuro i miei fondi, li fa fruttare e mi lascia la libertà di poter poi comunque acquistare ciò che voglio.

In questo modo chiuderei il cerchio: ogni mio assets su Splinterlands contribuisce a generare un flusso in entrata di DEC e questo DEC genera a sua volta un interesse - al 15% - grazie ad una temporanea conversione in HBD.

Mi sembra un buon piano: semplice sì, ma non per questo poco efficace!
