Did I Get It Right!?

A week ago, the Chaos Legion set stopped being playable in the Modern Format.

In its place, the Conclave Arcana set entered matchmaking. Its presale had ended just a few days earlier, and the general sale is now underway, offering four different types of packs ranging in price from $1 to $24.

But what interests me most right now is something else: along with the Conclave Arcana set, another set is also playable in the Modern Format — the Rebellion set.

It’s a set that flew a bit under the radar, largely due to Chaos Legion and the extremely low cost of its cards, which led many to ignore the Rebellion set, given how much more expensive its cards were.

However, things are a bit different now, because, as I mentioned above, to play in the Modern Format you have to focus on cards from the last two released sets — Rebellion and Conclave Arcana.

Not only that, to play, you first need to have access to Archons, which are primarily found in the Rebellion set, which offers a total of 17 (compared to just 7 in Conclave Arcana).

And what does all this mean for me?

Well, that for once, I seem to have hit the mark!

Remember this post? This is the post where I announced that I had gone ahead with a plan to sell my old Archons from the Chaos Legion set to invest in buying Archons from the Rebellion set, focusing mainly on Common and Rare ones — because they seemed the most profitable… and because they were the cheapest! 🤣

On average, I paid about 25 cents for Common Archons and about 50 cents for Rare ones.

Here’s a screenshot from monstermarket.io showing their current value:

The average cost to buy a Common Archon is now well over 70 cents, and for a Rare Archon it's around 1 dollar.

Basically, the cards I bought have seen their value more than double and, in some cases, even triple in less than a month!

What can I say but "wow"!

For once, I seem to have been able to read the market correctly, managing to buy assets before their value increased significantly.

So, I finally became rich! Right!?

Well, of course not, because I didn’t have the courage to invest outside funds, so my big financial operation only involved a few dozen dollars... 😅

And so, the value of my Archons simply reached the $100 mark.

A missed opportunity? Definitely yes, but I did it knowingly.

No, not in the sense that I wasted the chance to earn a lot more money just because I wanted to 🤣 but in the sense that I was aware that my idea could turn out to be a good one — or it might not.

I invested what I was willing to lose without regrets, and investing more would have meant exposing myself to a risk I didn’t want to take.

Because yes, this time it worked out, but what if it hadn’t?

Personally, I don’t like risk unless it’s carefully calculated and considered, so I prefer to try to slowly build something solid, rather than throwing myself into something and hoping it works out — because otherwise I’ve lost everything (or too much).

What’s the saying? Slow and steady wins the race (hopefully!).

C'ho Preso Davvero!?

Una settimana fa il set Chaos Legion ha smesso di essere giocabile nel Modern Format.

Al suo posto ha fatto il suo ingresso nel matchmaking il set Conclave Arcana, la cui presale si era conclusa pochi giorni prime e di cui è adesso in atto la general sale, dove è possibile ben 4 diversi tipi di pacchetti, che partono dal valore di 1 dollaro ed arrivano fino a 24 dollari.

La cosa che però interessa di più a me, in questo momento, è un'altra: insieme al set Conclave Arcana nel Modern Format è infatti giocabile anche un altro set, ossia il set Rebellion.

Si tratta di un set che è passato un po' in sordina, in buona parte a causa del set Chaos Legion e del bassissimo costo che ha caratterizzato le sue carte, cosa che ha sempre portato molti ad ignorare il set Rebellion, visti i costi molto più alti delle carte di quest'ultimo.

Tuttavia, adesso le cose sono un po' diverse, perchè, come ho scritto sopra, per giocare nel Modern Format occorre per forza focalizzarsi sulle carte degli ultimi due set usciti, ossia Rebellion e Conclave Arcana.

Non solo, per giocare serve prima di tutto avere a disposizione degli Arconti, che si trovano principalmente all'interno del set Rebellion, che ne offre ben 17 (contro i soli 7 di Conclave Arcana).

E cosa significa tutto questo per me?

Be', che per una volta sembro aver fatto centro!

Vi ricordate questo post? Questo è il post dove annunciavo di essermi buttato in un'operazione di vendita dei miei vecchi Arconti del set Chaos Legion per investire nell'acquisto di quelli del set Rebellion, concentrandomi principalmente su quelli di rarità Comune e Rara - perchè sembravano i più redditizi... e perchè erano i meno costosi! 🤣

Mediamente ho pagato sui 25 centesimi per gli Arconti Comuni e sui 50 centesimi per quelli Rari.

Questo è uno screen preso da monstermarket.io del loro valore attuale:

Il costo medio per acquistare un Arconte Comune super tranquillamente i 70 centesimi e quello per acquistare un Arconte Raro si attesta intorno ad 1 dollaro.

In pratica le carte che ho acquistato hanno visto il loro valore più che raddoppiare ed, in certi casi, triplicare nell'arco di meno di un mese!

Che dire se non "wow"!

Per una volta sembro essere stato capace di leggere correttamente il mercato, riuscendo ad acquistare degli assets prima che il loro valore aumentasse in maniera importante.

Guarda mamma, (non) sono ricco!

Sono finalmente diventato ricco allora! Vero!?

Be', ovviamente no, perchè non ho avuto il coraggio di investire fondi esterni, per cui la mia grande operazione finanziaria ha coinvolto giusto qualche decina di dollari... 😅

E quindi il valore dei miei Arconti ha semplicemente raggiunto la soglia dei 100 dollari.

Un'occasione sprecata? Sicuramente sì, ma l'ho fatto in maniera consapevole.

No, non nel senso che ho buttato al vento la possibilità di guadagnare un bel po' di soldi in più perchè mi andava 🤣 ma che ero consapevole del fatto che la mia idea poteva essere buona, come del fatto che poteva anche non esserlo.

Ho investito ciò che ero disposto a perdere senza rimpianti ed investire di più avrebbe voluto dire espormi ad un rischio che non volevo correre.

Perchè sì, stavolta ci ho preso, ma se non fosse andata così?

Personalmente non amo il rischio, se non quando è attentamente calcolato e ponderato, per cui preferisco cercare di costruire lentamente qualcosa di solido, invece che gettarmi di botto su qualcosa sperando che vada bene perchè altrimenti ho perso tutto (o troppo).

Come dice il proverbio? Chi va piano, va sano e va lontano (si spera!).
