I'm not that good at money-making schemas. It's even more strange because I've been working in corporate finances for decades. However, I'm still poor (well, relatively poor, a lower bottom of the middle class of my area). That's why I always search for a good easy financial scheme which can make me rich quickly.
Currently, it's the Steem hard fork.
Recently a smarty guy made an article about the fork and how to profit from it. Shortly, you buy, say, 100 Steem today, and after March the 20th you will have the same 100 Steem -- and also 100 of newly forked Hive tokens. In other words, fresh Hive blockchain will airdrop its tokens to all Steem holders and you double your investment easily. PROFIT!!!1, yeah?
Well, for me it depends on how exactly we calculate that profit!!!!1.
Indeed, after the fork you will have 100 Steem and 100 Hive (I don't think Hive devs will go scam).
However, by the time the guy published his article, Steem's price at Binance had already doubled. That is, other traders had already sensed that opportunity and rushed buying Steem. But even worse, after the fork Steem's price might well fall down as quickly as it'd risen -- if the traders start to dump their current Steem holdings. In other words, if today you have a $30 worth of Steem -- after the fork you might have, say, $20 of Steem plus unknown worth of Hive. Well, it's still good if today's $30 of Steem investments finish with $20 of Steem and $20 of Hive. But it's not so good if it finishes with $15 of Steem and $0 of Hive...
Moreover, Steem's and Hive's afterfork price is overall unclear. I think it depends on how many DAPPs will stay on Steem and how many will migrate to Hive. If they all will migrate to Hive -- Steem's price might well be near 0 (unless Justin makes another miracle then). And vice versa.
"So what d'ye propose?", you might ask.
Nothing, actually. Myself, I'm not sure about this hardfork profiting at all. I've bought 100 Steem (~$36 at buy time) at Binance and transferred them to my own wallet. If after the fork Steem's price goes up -- I will probably sell my Steem holdings. If it goes down -- I will try to swap my Steems into Splinterlands' DEC tokens and will probably use it as a foundation of my future Splinterlands cards collection.
